Job description
Experteer Overview In this role you design, build, and operate DRW’s mission-critical network capture platform. You work across software and infrastructure to deliver reliable capture servers and responsive tooling. You will contribute to both development and deployment, partnering with data center and infrastructure teams to automate provisioning and support. You are expected to own deployments end-to-end, including on-call rotations, to keep the platform robust for trading, research, and support users. This is a hands-on role with real breadth and ownership in a fast-paced environment at our Chicago headquarters. Compensation / Benefits * Design, build, deploy, and validate network capture servers across multiple teams * Develop and maintain capture and query software (C++, Python, Rust, Ruby) with emphasis on testing, reliability, and performance * Create Ansible automation and deployment tooling to make capture provisioning repeatable * Participate in weekly production support rotation: troubleshoot live issues, coordinate incident response, monitor proactively * Improve automation, monitoring, and capacity planning and push proposals to production * Onboard new capture deployments in collaboration with dependent stakeholder teams * Act as liaison between Network Capture Services and infrastructure teams Tasks * 3+ years of professional systems software engineering * Strong systems programming skills in Rust, C/C++, or Go; willingness to primarily use C++ * Ruby and Rust experience desired * Experience with DPDK or equivalent kernel-bypass packet processing * Solid Linux skills; production server administration/troubleshooting; RHEL-family a plus * Strong networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, switching, NICs, packet analysis) * Hands-on experience with server hardware, data center workflows, and remote hands coordination * Experience with Ansible or similar configuration management tools * Ability to coordinate across infrastructure teams and persist through follow-through * Experience with Git, CI/CD, and package management; Kubernetes and GitOps a plus * Scripting skills in Bash, Python, Ruby, or similar * Focus on testing, reliability, scalability, and maintainability * Experience with commercial network capture products and performance analysis tools (perf, eBPF, flamegraphs, tcpdump) a plus * Familiarity with service discovery, secrets management, metrics and dashboards, and relational databases * Excellent written and verbal communication Key requirements * group medical, pharmacy, dental and vision insurance * 401k with discretionary employer match * short and long-term disability * life and AD&D insurance * health savings accounts * flexible spending accounts
