Job description
The IT Manager will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the technology infrastructure for a new aluminum manufacturing facility, supporting both warehouse operations and administrative office functions. This role will build IT systems from the ground up, ensure secure and reliable connectivity, support production and warehouse technologies, and provide day-to-day technical leadership for plant users. The ideal candidate is hands-on, proactive, and comfortable in a start-up manufacturing environment where processes, systems, and structure are still developing., IT Infrastructure & Systems Management
- Plan, install, configure, and maintain servers, switches, firewalls, and network infrastructure.
- Ensure reliable wired and wireless connectivity across warehouse, production floor, and offices.
- Manage backups, disaster recovery plans, and data retention policies.
- Oversee IT asset lifecycle (procurement, inventory, licensing, and replacement).
Warehouse & Production Technology
- Support warehouse management systems (WMS), barcode scanners, handheld devices, and label printers.
- Coordinate IT needs for material tracking, inventory accuracy, and logistics workflows.
- Support PLC/automation interfaces as needed (with engineering teams).
· Maintain uptime and connectivity for production applications and equipment.
Business & Office Systems
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and security across Microsoft 365 or similar platforms.
- Support ERP implementation and ongoing use (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Ensure integration between ERP, WMS, production systems, and reporting tools.
- Maintain printers, workstations, laptops, and telephone systems.
Cybersecurity & Compliance
- Implement cybersecurity controls, patch management, and monitoring.
- Develop IT policies for acceptable use, access control, password standards, and data protection.
- Conduct periodic security training for employees.
- Ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements (ITAR, ISO, SOX, etc., as applicable).
Service & Support
- Serve as the primary onsite IT contact for plant employees.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, network, and application issues.
- Create IT support processes, ticketing workflows, and documentation.
- Build relationships with vendors, managed service providers, and external partners.
Project Leadership
- Lead IT setup during plant commissioning and expansion phases.
- Evaluate technology needs and recommend future upgrades.
- Support technology planning for growth, scalability, and redundancy.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings with Operations, HR, Finance, and Safety teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field - or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of IT administration experience (manufacturing environment preferred).
- Strong knowledge of networking (LAN/WAN, VPN, firewalls, wireless).
- Experience managing Microsoft environments (Active Directory, O365, Teams).
- Experience supporting ERP or WMS systems.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a hands-on role.
Preferred
- Experience with manufacturing automation environments.
- ERP implementation or rollout experience.
- Cybersecurity certification (CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or similar).
- Leadership or supervisor experience.

- System and network uptime across plant warehouse and office environment.
- On-time response and resolution of IT support requests.
- ERP/WMS stability and user adoption.
- Cybersecurity incidents are minimized or prevented.
- Successful execution of IT projects on schedule and budget., * IT Administration: 5 years (Preferred)
- Manufacturing: 5 years (Required)
License/Certification:
- CompTIA Security+ (Required)
