Job description

Seasats is growing rapidly, and we’re looking for a Senior IT Systems Administrator to become the dedicated owner of our internal IT systems.

You’ll support a team of approximately 100 people working across software, engineering, manufacturing, operations, and field testing. Your job will be to make sure employees have secure, reliable, and well-supported technology, and to build the systems and processes that will continue working as the company grows.

You’ll handle day-to-day support, administer our core business systems, manage employee devices and accounts, improve our office networks, and strengthen our security practices. At the same time, you’ll have substantial freedom to evaluate our current environment and establish a thoughtful, scalable approach to IT.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys taking ownership and fixing immediate problems, and is excited to mature our enterprise processes over time.

Role Details:

As Seasats’ primary IT professional, you will own internal IT across the company. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Serving as the primary point of contact for employee IT support
  • Troubleshooting devices, accounts, applications, networks, and office technology
  • Managing employee onboarding, access changes, and offboarding
  • Administering Google Workspace, identity, endpoint, password, and collaboration systems
  • Managing company devices, software, licenses, security, inventory, and replacement planning
  • Designing and maintaining reliable office networks across our facilities
  • Supporting conference rooms, audiovisual equipment, and shared workspaces
  • Partnering with engineering and operations on IT needs in office spaces, labs, manufacturing facilities, and field environments
  • Supporting security and compliance efforts through documentation, controls, audits, and customer questionnaires
  • Creating clear documentation and self-service resources
  • Developing the company’s IT roadmap and budget

This role primarily supports Seasats’ internal business technology. It is distinct from the software and infrastructure used to operate our autonomous vehicles, although you’ll work closely with those technical teams and may occasionally help connect the two environments safely.

Requirements

You are an experienced IT generalist who can operate independently and take responsibility for an entire company’s internal technology environment. You are comfortable helping an employee with a laptop problem, configuring an identity provider, troubleshooting a network issue, and suggesting a security investment to company leadership.

You have:

  • 6+ years of hands-on IT systems administration or IT operations experience
  • Experience owning IT for a small or mid-sized organization
  • Strong Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 administration experience
  • Experience managing Windows and macOS devices through an MDM platform
  • Working knowledge of Linux and experience supporting technical users
  • Strong networking knowledge, including DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, Wi-Fi, and firewalls
  • Experience with identity management, SSO, MFA, access controls, and employee lifecycle management
  • Practical knowledge of endpoint security, patching, backups, logging, and incident response
  • Experience building repeatable support, onboarding, offboarding, purchasing, and inventory processes
  • Experience with ticketing, asset-management, or IT service-management systems
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and sound judgment around security, reliability, cost, and usability
  • Clear communication skills and a service-oriented approach
  • Comfort providing hands-on support in an engineering and manufacturing environment

Due to export control requirements applicable to this position, we are only able to consider U.S. persons, as defined by U.S. export control laws. This includes U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, and individuals granted asylee or refugee status.

It’s helpful, though not essential, if you have:

  • Experience supporting engineering, robotics, aerospace, defense, or manufacturing organizations
  • Familiarity with NIST 800-171, CMMC, SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar frameworks
  • Experience handling export-controlled, customer-sensitive, or government information
  • Experience managing cloud infrastructure and on-premises servers
  • Familiarity with platforms such as Okta, JumpCloud, Kandji, Jamf, or Microsoft Intune
  • Scripting or automation experience with Python, PowerShell or Bash
  • Experience managing physical access, security cameras, conference rooms, or facility technology
  • Experience selecting and managing IT or security vendors

About the company

At Seasats, we’re passionate about delivering maritime robotics solutions to redefine the maritime industry. Our primary products are unmanned surface vessels (USVs), designed to carry sensors at sea for months at a time. Our USVs provide persistent monitoring and data acquisition to defense, scientific, and commercial customers, and have autonomously crossed both the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. After thousands of years in which the only way to gather information from the ocean was to put people on a boat, these uncrewed vessels are transforming how humanity monitors and interacts with the ocean. Here, you’ll find the space and opportunity to do your life’s best work.

Along with your salary, you’ll receive perks including:

  • Competitive insurance (including a 99% employer-covered Gold HMO plan or other options)
  • 401k matching up to 4% of salary
  • Four free lunches per week
  • An employee activity fund
  • A pet-friendly office
  • Unlimited/Flex PTO
