- Lead data architecture modernization efforts including migration strategy, data modeling, and platform engineering
- Design and implement governance, security, and compliance strategies for a platform handling sensitive Veteran PII and PHI
- Enable data science and AI/ML capabilities on the platform including model deployment infrastructure and data pipelines
- Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and VA stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and consumable data products
- Support data ingestion, curation, and interoperability across disparate VA source systems
- Build and maintain technical architecture documentation, security strategies, and compliance artifacts
Requirements
- Proven experience designing and managing enterprise cloud data architectures in Azure
- Hands-on experience with Azure Databricks for data engineering, analytics, and AI/ML workloads
- Experience with Power BI or similar visualization platforms
- Familiarity with AWS data services is a plus given the multi-cloud environment
- Strong background in data governance, security compliance, and federal data standards including FISMA and NIST 800-53
- Experience with large-scale data migration and architecture modernization efforts
- Ability to produce clear, detailed technical architecture documentation
- Thrives in a remote, collaborative Agile environment and genuinely enjoys working across engineering, product, and government stakeholder teams
