Job description
- Assist in the design, development, and maintenance of software for high-velocity data stream processing systems
- Support implementation of software features and enhancements under guidance from senior engineers
- Develop and maintain code using established engineering standards and best practices
- Participate in software testing activities, including unit, integration, and system testing
- Troubleshoot and resolve software issues in development environments
- Assist with analysis of customer requirements and contribute to software design efforts
- Participate in code reviews and technical discussions to build engineering knowledge
- Generate and update technical documentation and project artifacts
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to support delivery objectives
Requirements
- Knowledge of software development principles and object-oriented programming concepts
- Experience through academic, internship, research, or personal projects using Java, Python, or another object-oriented language
- Understanding of software development lifecycle concepts including design, implementation, and testing
- Familiarity with version control systems and collaborative development environments
- Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and solve technical problems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Required Education and Experience:
- Must be eligible for a U.S. Government Top Secret / SCI security clearance (U.S. citizenship required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field
- 0-2 years of relevant experience
Desired Qualifications:
- Exposure to data processing systems, networking, or distributed computing concepts
- Familiarity with XML, JSON, Protocol Buffers, or similar data formats
- Internship, research, or academic project experience developing software applications
- Exposure to Agile development methodologies
- Security+ certification
- Strong curiosity, attention to detail, and desire to continuously learn new technologies
Benefits & conditions
Basic Compensation: $76,500 - $114,800 (For the Colorado Springs Area Only) The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
Additional Compensation:
KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of a sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short-term incentives, long-term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
