Job description
We are seeking an experienced Cabling Infrastructure Engineer to support a major healthcare infrastructure initiative involving the construction of a brand-new hospital in San Francisco. This individual will play a critical role in the planning, design, coordination, and oversight of structured cabling and IT infrastructure deployments across multiple sites throughout the Bay Area. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cabling infrastructure, telecommunications spaces, MDF/IDF buildouts, and large-scale construction projects. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly visible, long-term project that will directly support a state-of-the-art healthcare facility. Responsibilities
- Lead and support structured cabling infrastructure initiatives for a large-scale hospital construction project.
- Conduct site surveys, walkthroughs, and infrastructure assessments throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
- Design, plan, and validate cabling infrastructure for IT rooms, telecommunications rooms, MDFs, and IDFs.
- Review construction drawings, cabling designs, and infrastructure documentation.
- Collaborate with engineers, construction teams, contractors, and vendors to ensure successful project execution.
- Oversee cabling standards, pathways, rack layouts, telecom room requirements, and overall infrastructure readiness.
- Ensure projects adhere to industry standards, best practices, and organizational requirements.
- Identify and resolve infrastructure challenges during all phases of project delivery.
- Provide technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle, from design and planning through implementation and completion.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in structured cabling, telecommunications infrastructure, or low-voltage engineering.
- Proven experience designing or managing cabling infrastructure projects and IT room buildouts.
- Strong knowledge of MDF/IDF environments, fiber and copper cabling systems, pathways, and telecommunications infrastructure.
- Experience supporting large construction, renovation, or healthcare-related infrastructure projects.
- Ability to conduct site walks and support projects throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated history of infrastructure-focused work rather than desktop support or end-user support roles.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, cabling documentation, and technical specifications., * BICSI RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) certification strongly preferred.
- Healthcare infrastructure or hospital construction experience.
- Experience working within active healthcare environments.
- Familiarity with BICSI standards and telecommunications design best practices.
- Experience coordinating contractors, installers, and cross-functional project teams.
