We have an exciting opportunity for an ICB5 Staff Engineer on our Network Detection and Research Team (NDRT). Our team is responsible for the development of network security and intrusion detection capabilities for the vDefend Advanced Threat Prevention (ATP) solution, a cutting-edge networking and security analytics solution for the detection and prevention of advanced threats.
We are passionate about network detection and threat research, and combine in a single team experts with varying backgrounds, all contributing to the development of new detection capabilities in the product. Responsibilities
- Conduct deep-dive research into emerging network threats (agentic and human) to keep our IDPS capability ahead of adversaries
- Architect and build cutting-edge, AI-enabled and agentic security solutions designed to proactively protect virtual workloads within large-scale data center environments
- Analyze malicious traffic to design, prototype, and implement robust detection approaches and high-performance IDPS signatures
- Construct and maintain scalable data collection infrastructures, incorporating automated feedback loops and data enrichment to streamline threat evaluation and response
- Translate threat intelligence into actionable, high-fidelity detection logic and signatures
Requirements
- You are passionate about network security and threat research
- You are a self-motivated and methodical person comfortable in managing and analyzing large amounts of data
- You are team player who is also able to work independently and you are comfortable in working with a global team working in different timezones
- You enjoy experimenting with new ideas, creating quick prototypes, and following academic papers to identify new approaches, * Required: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and 12+ years of related experience, or Master’s degree and 10+ years of related experience, or PhD and 7+ years of related experience
- Strong experience and interest in network security
- Understanding of IDPS concepts and experience at developing IDS signatures
- Experience with the Python programming language
- Familiarity with Docker and k8s environments
- Willingness and familiarity in working with AI tools and agentic AI systems
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues
- Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills
Benefits & conditions
The position requires 5 days/week attendance at the Broadcom office in Palo Alto.

The hiring manager for this role is Luukas Larinkoski, who leads the Network Detection and Research Team and is based in London, UK. The team members are based in Palo Alto, US and Europe. The NDRT team is part of the Advanced Threat Prevention group, which has strong roots in academic research with several members having published in top academic conferences on network security topics.
Compensation and Benefits
The annual base salary range for this position is USD 143,800.00 To USD 230,000.00
