Senior Analytics Engineer

• We run a modern cloud data platform using key technologies such as:
• Postgres source databases
• AWS cloud infrastructure
• Databricks Delta Lake for data lake and warehouse storage and querying
• dbt() for data modelling and transformations
• Python as main scripting language
• Airflow for task scheduling
• Kubernetes for orchestration
• Github and Circle CI for version control, deployment and monitoring

What you’ll do

• Become a subject matter expert on the Kraken data model across North America and the application as a whole
• Lead on building models, data flows, and metrics specific to the North American markets.
• Work with Data and Product leadership to prioritize projects across our North American clients.
• Be exposed to new technologies and tools, and receive guidance on developing your skills
• Build and maintain dashboards and data apps for senior stakeholders
• Contribute to the development of the Kraken Analytics team and to our coding standards, continuous integration testing, and AI readiness
• Lead and own major strategic projects end to end
• Work closely with a broad range of teams at Kraken
• Continue to develop your analytics engineering skills

• We’re looking for someone who combines market industry knowledge and experience with a passion for working with data.
• Strong level of data skills/analytics experience. Comfortable with energy/utilities and other relevant subject areas.
• Learns fast and is enthusiastic about learning new technologies & processes
• Be highly proficient in dbt and SQL, capable of working on large complex datasets while seeing the big picture
• Experience building data pipelines and working with engineering teams
• Curious and self driven - when faced with a new problem is capable of seeking out an answer without lots of help and support
• Highly data literate and numerate - can make sense of lots of data and shape it into a coherent story
• Great communicator, can explain complex technical problems to non-technical teams

• Has experience with some of the below technologies: *

• A scripting language (ideally Python) *

• Writing accurate and performant queries in SQL *

• Working in a modern cloud data warehouse environment *

• Working collaboratively on codebases using git *

• Front-end/Dashboarding experience

• The salary range for this senior role in NYC ranges on average from $150,000-$220,000 depending on relevant experience, role alignment, and technical/client management expertise demonstrated throughout the interview process. While the broad salary range is listed, not all candidates will be placed at the top of the range-this will be determined by the overall fit for the position.
