Lead Backend Engineer

We’re looking for a Lead Backend Engineer with deep expertise in Golang to design and build scalable, cloud-native services. This role will be solving the most critical problem in our platform, making key technical decisions, mentor engineers, and drive successful delivery., * Lead the design, development, and delivery of distributed backend systems using Golang.

• Define architecture, technical standards, and best practices across the team.
• Build and operate cloud-native applications on AWS.
• Deploy and manage services using Kubernetes and Terraform.
• Drive technical planning, estimation, and execution of large-scale initiatives.
• Partner with product, architecture, and engineering teams to deliver business outcomes.
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and technical coaching.
• Ensure high standards for reliability, scalability, security, and operational excellence.

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with a strong backend focus.
• 4-6+ years of experience leading technical projects and delivering production systems.
• Expert-level proficiency in Golang.
• Strong experience with:
• AWS
• Kubernetes
• Terraform
• Microservices and distributed systems
• REST APIs
• CI/CD and DevOps practices
• SQL/NoSQL databases
• Experience designing and operating large-scale distributed systems and microservices.
• Strong understanding of concurrency, performance optimization, resiliency patterns, and service reliability.
• Proven track record of mentoring and developing engineers.

District of Columbia Pay Range: $141,850.78 - $212,776.16
