Job description

  • Install, configure, administer, monitor, and maintain relational database environments supporting development, testing, staging, and production systems.\n
  • Monitor database availability, capacity, and performance; identify bottlenecks and implement tuning and optimization strategies.\n
  • Manage database backup, recovery, replication, patching, upgrades, and disaster recovery processes to ensure system availability and data integrity.\n
  • Implement and maintain database security controls, including user access, permissions, authentication, auditing, and vulnerability remediation.\n
  • Troubleshoot database incidents, performance issues, failed jobs, connectivity problems, and application/database integration issues.\n
  • Collaborate with application developers, infrastructure engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and DevSecOps teams to support deployments and resolve technical issues.\n
  • Develop and maintain database documentation, standard operating procedures, configuration records, and technical artifacts required for operational and security compliance.\n

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and directly related professional experience. Significant relevant experience may be substituted for a degree. \n
  • 5+ years of professional experience administering enterprise database environments.\n
  • Hands-on experience with database technologies such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or comparable enterprise relational database platforms.\n
  • Strong experience with SQL, database performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, backup/recovery, and database troubleshooting.\n
  • Experience implementing database security, access controls, patching, vulnerability remediation, and configuration management within secure environments.\n
  • Experience supporting highly available production systems and coordinating database activities across application, infrastructure, and cybersecurity teams.\n, * Experience supporting database environments within the Department of Defense or other federal government agencies.\n
  • Experience with cloud-hosted databases and services within Microsoft Azure or AWS environments.\n
  • Experience supporting database automation, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines, or DevSecOps environments.\n
  • Familiarity with DISA STIGs, NIST security controls, RMF, and federal cybersecurity requirements.\n
  • Experience with database clustering, replication, high availability, and disaster recovery solutions.\n
  • Relevant database, cloud, or cybersecurity certifications.\n
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum development and operations environments.\n
