Job description

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

  • Maintain and improve our cloud infrastructure platform using modern IaC (Infrastructure as Code) practices under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Support the development and operation of CI/CD pipelines to enable agile and secure software deployments.
  • Building and operating infrastructure utilizing container orchestration such as EKS/K8S.
  • Write automation scripts and tooling to reduce toil and improve the reliability of our systems.
  • Implement and maintain monitoring and alerting to proactively identify and address potential issues.
  • Implement and maintain logging solutions to facilitate efficient troubleshooting and analysis.
  • Collaborate with software development and systems integration teams to build end-to-end solutions.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, incident response, and post-incident reviews as you grow into the role.
  • Work with security teams to ensure the platform meets industry standards and compliance requirements.
  • Contribute to the Developer experience at Scout by helping build and improve the internal developer portal.

Location & Travel Expectations

  • This role may be based out of the Scout Motors corporate headquarters in Charlotte, NC or our office in Fremont, California or Columbia, South Carolina.
  • This role requires 4-5 days per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events.
  • Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience as a DevOps engineer, system administrator, or software engineer.
  • Working knowledge of at least one scripting or programming language such as Python, Shell, Go, or Ruby.
  • Hands-on exposure to containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and tools (GitHub Actions, GitLab Pipelines, Harness.io, ArgoCD).
  • Working knowledge of at least one major cloud platform such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Exposure to infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, Crossplane, Pulumi, or CDK).
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet) is a plus.
  • Solid problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. When a problem occurs, you run towards it not away.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills. You treat colleagues with respect. You have a desire for clean implementations but are also humble in discussing alternative solutions and options.
  • A willingness to learn, ask questions, and grow your skills with support from senior engineers.

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $120,000.00 - $145,000.00

Initial California base salary range = $132,000 - $159,500

Internal leveling code: IC9
