SAP EWM Process Engineer

The SAP EWM Process Engineer serves as the operational and systems subject matter expert for warehouse and logistics processes supporting aerospace production operations. This role combines deep expertise in SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) with practical experience in warehouse operations, inventory control, material flow, and production logistics.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, and support of SAP EWM solutions, ensuring system functionality aligns with operational requirements and supports efficient, accurate, and compliant material flow throughout the supply chain.

This position will partner closely with Operations, IT, Quality, Supply Chain, Engineering, and customer stakeholders to support inbound logistics, warehousing, inventory management, kitting, line-side delivery, shipping, and production support activities for Airbus operations in Mobile, Alabama., SAP EWM Leadership & Implementation

· Serve as the primary SAP EWM Subject Matter Expert (SME) for warehouse and logistics operations.

· Lead SAP EWM design workshops and translate operational requirements into scalable system solutions.

· Support full lifecycle SAP implementations, including:

o Business process mapping

o Solution design

o Functional requirements development

o System testing

o User Acceptance Testing (UAT)

o Training development

o Cutover planning

o Deployment and go-live support

o Hypercare and stabilization activities

· Collaborate with SAP functional teams, consultants, IT resources, and business stakeholders to implement enhancements and new capabilities.

· Evaluate and improve warehouse processes through SAP EWM functionality, configuration improvements, and best practices.

· Develop and execute test scripts for new functionality, upgrades, and process changes.

· Support change management and user adoption activities related to SAP implementations.

Warehouse & Logistics Process Engineering

· Design, analyze, and continuously improve warehouse and logistics processes.

· Optimize:

o Receiving

o Putaway

o Replenishment

o Picking

o Kitting

o Line-side delivery

o Staging

o Shipping

o Inventory control

o Returns processing

· Design material flow solutions supporting aerospace production requirements.

· Develop process maps, SOPs, work instructions, and operational standards.

· Conduct time studies and workflow analysis to identify productivity opportunities.

· Lead process improvement initiatives utilizing Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.

· Support warehouse layout design, slotting optimization, storage strategies, and inventory management initiatives.

SAP EWM Operations Support

· Support warehouse structures, storage types, activity areas, work centers, and inventory management processes within SAP EWM.

· Analyze SAP transaction data and operational metrics to identify inefficiencies and improvement opportunities.

· Troubleshoot SAP EWM process failures, transaction errors, inventory discrepancies, interface issues, and operational interruptions.

· Maintain system and process documentation.

· Ensure alignment between physical warehouse activities and SAP system execution.

Inventory Accuracy & Compliance

· Lead inventory accuracy initiatives including:

o Cycle counting

o Root cause analysis

o Corrective action implementation

o Inventory reconciliation

· Support audit readiness and compliance activities.

· Ensure processes support aerospace traceability and customer requirements.

· Participate in investigations involving inventory, quality, material control, and delivery performance issues.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

· Work closely with:

o Operations

o Quality

o Supply Chain

o Manufacturing

o Transportation

o Engineering

o Customer representatives

o Information Technology teams

· Support new warehouse launches, facility expansions, production ramp-ups, and process transformation initiatives.

· Train and mentor warehouse personnel, supervisors, and business users on SAP EWM functionality and best practices.

· Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, Manufacturing Engineering, Information Systems, Business, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.

· Minimum 3-5 years of experience in warehouse, logistics, manufacturing, or supply chain operations.

· Strong hands-on experience with SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM).

· Experience participating in or leading SAP implementation projects.

· Experience with SAP solution design, requirements gathering, testing, deployment, and post-go-live support.

· Strong understanding of warehouse operations, including:

o Receiving

o Putaway

o Inventory management

o Cycle counting

o Picking

o Shipping

o Material staging

o Production support logistics

· Experience developing process documentation and standard work.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Led one or more SAP EWM implementations from design through go-live and stabilization.

· SAP EWM implementation, rollout, migration, or optimization project experience.

· Experience serving as:

o Functional Lead

o Business Process Owner

o Super User

o Solution Lead

· Experience integrating SAP EWM with:

o SAP S/4HANA

o SAP MM

o SAP PP

o Transportation Management systems

o RF devices

o Warehouse automation technologies

· Aerospace, aviation, defense, or other highly regulated manufacturing experience.

· Experience supporting greenfield warehouse implementations or major facility start-ups.

· Knowledge of SAP Activate methodology.

· Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.

· Experience with warehouse automation, digital manufacturing tools, or MES platforms.

· Knowledge of labor standards, capacity planning, takt time, and warehouse productivity management.
