Job description
This position performs complex and highly technical work in the analysis, design, programming, testing, and maintenance of computer application systems. Develops integrations with line of business applications and collaborates with other IT teams to support those integrations across the software development lifecycle. Defines system scope and objectives for assigned projects; manages program design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation. Works with IT colleagues and stakeholders to understand and ensure achievement of objectives.
Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Participates as part of a project team in requirements gathering and independently helps analyze departmental business processes in order to design and build computer programs that will help customers perform more efficiently.
- Designs, develops, tests and documents software solutions by creating and maintaining computer programs and software that meet customer requirements from conception to implementation.
- Provides escalated issue support and collaborates with other IT groups to provide application deployment support.
- Helps administer software applications by providing customer assistance or training related to application functionality and updates.
- Performs incident management by researching and repairing software-related defects.
- Performs service request fulfillment by gathering requirements, developing enhancements, and helping to interpret results, in order to meet departmental, customer and business operation needs.
- Demonstrates technical expertise and acts as a technical project lead, mentoring new team members by maintaining awareness of current technologies and trends through formal training, seminars, online instruction, etc.
- This is a Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) regulated position and requires the ability to meet and maintain compliance with the Security Policy.
- May perform responsibilities of a similar nature and level as assigned.
Requirements
Three (3) years of experience in computer programming, systems analysis experience, or related experience.
Candidates must have the minimum amount of work experience. Years of experience are based upon a full-time work schedule (2,080 hours per year). The sum of an applicantâs full-time and/or part-time qualifying work experience must meet or exceed the stated minimum qualification. Education will not substitute for the required work experience; however, related unpaid and/or volunteer work experience may be used as qualifying work experience.
Education:
Equivalent to a bachelorâs degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
The term âequivalentâ means that directly related work experience exceeding the required work experience will substitute in equal one-year increments for college-level education (2 additional years for an associate degree and 4 additional years for a bachelorâs degree).

The successful candidateâs placement in the salary range will depend upon previous experience in a similar role.
