Development Manager (Part-Time)

The Development Manager leads the day-to-day execution of Family Programs Hawaii’s fundraising program. The position manages and builds upon the donor pipeline, cultivates and stewards donor relationships, coordinates fundraising campaigns and sponsorships, and maintains the systems and reporting necessary to support revenue growth.

Working within goals established with the President/CEO and Development & Communications Committee, the Development Manager independently prioritizes prospects, manages donor outreach, recommends fundraising tactics, and adjusts activities based on results.

The position also leads the fundraising components of the Annual Holiday Party, coordinates grant opportunities with grant writers, and produces donor-focused communications.

Essential Responsibilities

1. Fundraising and Donor Management * Build and manage a prioritized pipeline of current donors, prospective donors, sponsors, and lapsed donors. * Develop and carry out donor cultivation, solicitation, renewal, and stewardship activities. * Maintain day-to-day relationships with assigned major donors and key supporters. * Identify and re-engage lapsed donors using donor segmentation and giving history. * Coordinate donor outreach involving the President/CEO, Board members, staff, and volunteers. * Prepare donor background information, talking points, and recommended next steps for leadership. * Monitor progress toward approved fundraising goals and identify risks and opportunities.

2. CRM, Reporting, and Development Operations * Maintain oversight of donor information, pipeline stages, activities, and follow-up in the organization’s CRM. * Establish and monitor consistent donor data and recordkeeping practices. * Use CRM data to prioritize outreach, track donor activity, forecast revenue, and prepare reports. * Coordinate with the Operations Assistant and Finance staff on gift entry, acknowledgments, tax receipts, mailing lists, routine record updates, and contribution reconciliation. * Provide functional direction and training to staff supporting development administration. * Protect confidential donor information and ensure appropriate access and recordkeeping.

3. Appeals, Sponsorships, and Grant Coordination * Coordinate annual fundraising appeals, including donor segmentation, communications, timelines, and follow-up. * Manage sponsorship outreach and fulfillment. * Maintain the grants calendar and monitor application, reporting, and renewal deadlines. * Coordinate information and supporting materials for organizational grant writers. * Track grant submissions, decisions, awards, and reporting obligations.

4. Annual Holiday Party Fundraising * Lead donor and sponsor solicitation for the organization’s Annual Holiday Party. * Manage sponsorship requests, event-related fundraising appeals, donor recognition, pledge follow-up, and post-event stewardship. * Coordinate fundraising-related needs with the Director of Programs.

5. Donor Communications and Outreach * Partner with the President/CEO to establish fundraising communications goals, messages, channels, and cadence. * Write and distribute the donor newsletter. * Maintain the development communications calendar. * Prepare personalized donor, sponsor, and prospect communications. * Support donor-related invitations, guest tracking, and follow-up. * Represent Family Programs Hawaii at selected donor meetings and community events.

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least three years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, development operations, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience with donor pipelines, CRM systems, donor segmentation, data quality, forecasting, and reporting
• Experience cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors or sponsors.
• Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to analyze fundraising information, recommend action, and manage multiple priorities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and work independently., * Nonprofit or community-based organization experience.
• Experience with annual giving, major gifts, sponsorships, fundraising events, or grant coordination.
• Familiarity with Hawai’i’s philanthropic and nonprofit communities.
• Experience with DonorDoc or a comparable donor CRM.

Working Conditions

• Regular computer, telephone, video, and in-person work.
• Local travel to donor meetings and community events may be required.
• Occasional evening and weekend work is required for donor and fundraising engagements.
• Ability to lift and move light office, mailing, and event materials.
