Job description

Amazon Leo is launching satellite-based connectivity in 100+ countries. Every country launch requires integration across tax, accounting, disbursement, legal, trade, and core commerce - thousands of test cases, dozens of teams, months of sequential human work. This team operates in a high-velocity environment, adapting and extending Amazon’s established first-mile and middle-mile logistics and accounting infrastructure while engineering new capabilities purpose-built for Kuiper’s commerce platform, which is launching across 100+ countries.

The Inventory Accounting team owns the end-to-end platform responsible for tracking Kuiper hardware inventory procured by end customers and fulfilled through Amazon’s first-mile and middle-mile logistics network, ensuring ledger accuracy and regulatory compliance. The team manages 40+ distinct accounting scenarios per country, encompassing inventory custody transitions across both forward fulfillment and reverse logistics flows.

Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum., *Design and deliver a scalable, end-to-end platform supporting Kuiper commerce logistics operations across global markets.

*Design and implement distributed orchestration systems that coordinate across dozens of domain-specific internal and external services, ensuring reliable end-to-end workflow execution at scale.

*Establish the AI/ML foundation layer, including knowledge base architectures and intelligent automation frameworks, to accelerate developer productivity and reduce time-to-market for new country launches.

*Tackle novel, ambiguous technical challenges at the intersection of artificial intelligence, large-scale distributed systems, and financial domain complexity, delivering production-grade solutions with high operational bar.

A day in the life As a Software Development Engineer (SDE II) on the Inventory Accounting team, you will own the design, development, and cross team collaboration of end-to-end e-commerce lifecycle systems, spanning requirements definition, implementation, financial configuration, test automation, and production validation. You will enable Amazon Kuiper to scale country and feature launches across 100+ global markets without proportional headcount growth, driving operational efficiency through engineering excellence.
