The (USA) Distinguished, Technical Program Manager leads complex, large-scale programs by defining goals, managing cross-functional dependencies, and driving clarity amid ambiguity. This role requires expertise in technical design, program planning, and stakeholder engagement to deliver end-to-end system solutions aligned with business objectives. The manager proactively identifies risks, optimizes resources, and mentors teams to enhance processes and accelerate delivery. By leveraging data-driven insights and fostering collaboration, this position ensures successful execution of strategic initiatives while maintaining high standards of quality and operational excellence.
About the team:
The Marketplace TPM team partners with Business, Product, and Engineering leaders to advance Walmartâs key strategic initiatives focused on enhancing Marketplace Trust. Positioned at the intersection of technology, product strategy, and business execution, the team leads complex programs across multiple organizations. Their efforts enable global Marketplace scaling by driving cross-functional alignment, managing risks, and delivering scalable technical solutions. Emphasizing strong stakeholder engagement, program management excellence, and continuous improvement, the team supports Walmartâs commitment to operational excellence and innovation through effective project and technical design leadership.
What youâll do:
- Enterprise-Scale Execution: Lead the strategy, planning, and end-to-end delivery of company-wide, multi-year technical initiatives , spanning dozens of organizations and hundreds of engineers.
- Strategic Technical Partnership: Partner with Senior Engineers and Senior Architects to shape technical strategy, high availability, performance, and alignment with delivery timelines.
- Ambiguity Resolution & Plan Execution: Take ownership of highly ambiguous â0 to 1â initiatives where no precedent exists.
- Systemic Optimization & Workflows: Identify and dismantle organizational silos and systemic friction points.
- Executive & Stakeholder Communication: Act as a trusted advisor to the executive team and board members.
- Mentor & Elevate: Serve as the champion for the TPM discipline.
Requirements
- Experience: 15+ years of experience driving complex strategic programs, managing cross-functional outcomes, and leading technical program management-including 2+ years operating at a Principal, or equivalent highly-senior Individual Contributor (IC) level.
- Technical Depth: Extensive expertise in system architecture, software development, and infrastructure design.
- Analytical Problem Solving: Demonstrated skills in data-driven decision-making and proactive risk mitigation
- Proven Scale: A track record of successfully delivering massive-scale, mission-critical software or infrastructure programs from inception to global deployment.

Certification in Project Management., Masterâs degree in Business Administration, with specialization in strategy, supply chain, finance, information systems, or related area and 5 yearsâ experience in product design., We value candidates with a background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly. Sunnyvale, California US-11656: The annual salary range for this position is $169,000.00 - $338,000.00
Bentonville, Arkansas US-30094: The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00 - $260,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
