Job description
This position will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of spatial data, and delivering advanced geospatial analytics that support strategic planning, infrastructure management, and operational decision-making. This position combines GIS data stewardship with advanced spatial analysis, automation, dashboard development, and data visualization to improve business processes across Storm water management and operations., The Stormwater team recently completed a successful modernization of its GIS database structure and is now looking to bring in a more advanced GIS professional who can maximize the value of that investment. The focus has shifted from database cleanup and maintenance to advanced spatial analytics, data-driven decision-making, modeling, and visualization. Project Background
This role will support critical stormwater initiatives by leveraging GIS technology, advanced analytics, and engineering data to provide meaningful insights and recommendations. The new consultant will act as the backbone of GIS analytics efforts, helping stakeholders answer operational and infrastructure-related questions through analysis of existing data.
The team is looking for someone who can move beyond basic GIS data entry and maintenance and bring a strategic, analytical mindset focused on driving ROI from existing GIS investments.

- 3D visualization and modeling
- GIS dashboard development
- CAD-to-GIS integration
- Asset management and infrastructure planning
- Real-time and ad hoc analysis requests
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Analyze existing GIS, utility, and stormwater data to answer business and engineering questions.
- Perform advanced spatial analysis using the Esri platform.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance dashboards within ArcGIS Online and related Esri tools.
- Support stormwater asset management initiatives.
- Conduct analysis on infrastructure such as drainage networks, pipes, and stormwater assets.
- Assist with flood modeling and simulation efforts.
- Integrate CAD data with GIS systems and workflows.
- Collaborate with Stormwater engineers, analysts, and project stakeholders.
- Respond to both planned and real-time analytical requests using existing GIS datasets.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and return on GIS investments., * Hybrid schedule with emphasis on productivity rather than office presence.
- Wednesdays are the primary onsite collaboration day with the full Stormwater team.
- Significant cross-functional coordination with engineering, GIS, and operational stakeholders.
Interview Process
- Resume review by hiring team.
- One interview round with Annie and potentially additional Stormwater analysts/team members.
- Interviews targeted for the week of September 7th-10th.
- Team is open to creative sourcing strategies and candidates from adjacent industries with strong GIS backgrounds.
Requirements
Preferred Qualifications :Master’s degree in GIS, Geography, Data Science, or related discipline. Experience supporting Asset Management programs. Experience with Capital Improvement Program (CIP) planning. Knowledge of transportation, storm water utility.
Experience:
3-5 years of GIS experience., * 5-7+ years of GIS experience.
- Advanced proficiency with:
- ArcGIS Pro
- ArcGIS Online
- Esri Enterprise Suite
- Esri dashboards and reporting tools
- Strong experience with spatial analytics and GIS-based data analysis.
- Understanding of Esri data models and GIS architecture.
- Experience working with utility, infrastructure, asset management, or stormwater-related datasets.
- Ability to independently analyze data and communicate findings.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to provide actionable recommendations.
Nice-to-Haves
- Stormwater, drainage, watershed, or water utility experience.
- Flood simulation or hydraulic/hydrologic modeling experience.
- CAD-GIS integration experience.
- 3D GIS modeling and visualization.
- Experience with organizations such as Tarrant Regional Water District or similar municipal utility environments.
- Engineering-related GIS background.
- Experience driving ROI through geospatial analytics initiatives., * Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Undergrad degree with 5-7 years of hands-on GIS experience is preferred over a Master’s degree with limited practical experience.
- Proven production experience and ability to deliver results outweigh educational credentials.
