Job description

Solutech is seeking a highly experienced Senior DevOps / DevSecOps Engineer to join a growing team supporting mission-critical federal technology and modernization initiatives in Rosslyn, Virginia.This position will provide hands-on engineering support across multiple enterprise programs operating within secure government cloud environments. The work spans cloud infrastructure, application delivery, DevSecOps automation, enterprise data platforms, workflow solutions, and ongoing technology modernization.The successful candidate will work in a highly collaborative environment alongside cloud engineers, developers, cybersecurity professionals, architects, program teams, and government stakeholders. We are looking for an engineer who can not only execute technically, but also assess complex problems, recommend practical solutions, and help move initiatives from design through implementation and operational support.

This position requires onsite support in Rosslyn, VA four days per week, with one remote day per week. An active Top Secret clearance is required.What You’ll Do

  • Design, deploy, configure, and maintain secure, scalable cloud infrastructure supporting federal enterprise applications.
  • Engineer solutions within Azure Government and support integration with AWS GovCloud and Google Government Cloud environments as required.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC), with a strong emphasis on Bicep and experience with technologies such as Terraform and Ansible.
  • Build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines supporting application and infrastructure deployments.
  • Support Azure DevOps capabilities, including pipelines, repositories, artifacts, boards, and release processes.
  • Automate cloud provisioning, configuration, deployment, monitoring, and operational activities.
  • Support infrastructure and application deployments across development, test/integration, and production environments.
  • Design and troubleshoot secure cloud networking, including private endpoints, DNS, firewalls, VPNs, VNETs, gateways, and other restricted-network configurations.
  • Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability solutions.
  • Work closely with cybersecurity teams to integrate security requirements into cloud architecture and DevSecOps delivery practices.
  • Support ATO, continuous monitoring, vulnerability remediation, security-control implementation, and technical evidence activities.
  • Diagnose complex infrastructure, application, connectivity, and deployment issues and support root-cause analysis through resolution.
  • Participate in technical reviews, release planning, change-management activities, and CAB processes.
  • Collaborate across engineering, development, security, architecture, and program teams to identify dependencies and drive technical solutions.
  • Recommend improvements to automation, reliability, security, scalability, and overall delivery efficiency.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to other engineers as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret (TS) clearance.
  • Ability to work onsite in Rosslyn, VA four days per week.
  • 7+ years of professional experience in DevOps, DevSecOps, Cloud Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, preferably within Azure Government.
  • Experience working within secure, regulated, or government cloud environments.
  • Strong experience with Azure DevOps, including pipelines, repositories, artifacts, and deployment workflows.
  • Hands-on experience developing Infrastructure as Code using Bicep.
  • Experience with Terraform, Ansible, or similar infrastructure automation technologies.
  • Strong scripting experience using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or comparable languages.
  • Experience implementing and troubleshooting secure cloud networking, including private endpoints, DNS, firewalls, VPNs, VNETs, and secure integration patterns.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD and DevSecOps principles.
  • Knowledge of federal cybersecurity and compliance requirements, including NIST 800-53, FISMA, and FedRAMP.
  • Experience supporting technical troubleshooting and problem resolution in complex enterprise environments.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical risks, dependencies, recommendations, and solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting the Department of State, DoD, DHS, or another federal agency.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS GovCloud and/or Google Government Cloud.
  • Experience supporting ATO activities, security-control implementation, evidence collection, vulnerability remediation, and continuous monitoring.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes environments such as AKS, EKS, or GKE.
  • Experience with CI/CD and deployment technologies such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, or ArgoCD.
  • Experience with Helm and GitOps-based deployment approaches.
  • Familiarity with application and cloud security platforms such as SonarQube, Snyk, Aqua, Prisma, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with secrets-management solutions such as Azure Key Vault, AWS KMS, or HashiCorp Vault.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability platforms such as Azure Monitor, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK, CloudWatch, or comparable technologies.
  • Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL data services, including PostgreSQL, Cosmos DB, DynamoDB, or MongoDB.
  • Experience with API gateways, application gateways, firewalls, CDN technologies, and secure API integration.
  • Experience implementing cloud governance practices, including resource standards, tagging, cost management, and operational controls.

Preferred CertificationsRelevant cloud, DevOps, and infrastructure certifications are a plus, including:

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
  • Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert
  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional
  • Google Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer
  • HashiCorp Terraform Certification
  • Kubernetes certifications

The Candidate We’re Looking For

We are looking for a senior engineer who is comfortable taking ownership of complex technical challenges and operating in a fast-paced, high-security federal environment. The right individual will be technically strong, solutions-oriented, and able to work independently while remaining highly collaborative. This person should be comfortable moving between hands-on engineering, technical troubleshooting, security considerations, and discussions with project and government stakeholders. Strong communication skills are essential. The engineer must be able to explain technical challenges clearly, identify risks and dependencies early, and work across multiple teams to drive issues through resolution.
