Job description

The EMR Consultant is responsible for day-to-day operational management, and new projects + enhancement requests of our EMR platform and its connected clinical and financial ecosystem. This role serves as a trusted partner to clinic providers, physicians, operational leaders, revenue cycle teams, and third-party vendors., 1. EMR Operations, Provider Partnership & Support

  • Serve as the primary operational owner of the EMR platform and its connected workflows, interfaces, and vendor relationships.
  • Act as the primary liaison among providers, clinic staff, operational leaders, technical teams, Revenue Cycle, and ancillary partners.
  • Manage day-to-day EMR incidents, service requests, user support needs, configuration questions, and operational follow-up.
  • Assess, prioritize, coordinate, and communicate the resolution of EMR-related issues based on patient care, provider workflow, financial, compliance, and business impact.
  • Work directly with EMR and third-party vendors to troubleshoot issues, coordinate escalations, confirm resolution, and keep stakeholders informed.
  • Monitor macro view of issues and activities and identify and recommend sustainable corrective actions and improvements.
  • Work with Provider Super Users and Trainers to promote EMR best practices and educate users on features, tools, and workflows that improve productivity and clinical effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain operating procedures, support documentation, issue logs, decision records, and user guidance.
  • Ensure agreed service levels, support commitments, action items, and vendor obligations are tracked and met.
  1. EMR Enhancement Requests, Upgrades and Projects * · Lead new enhancement requests and EMR-related projects from initial concept through implementation and post-production support. * · Coordinate requests through all phases of Healix’s project lifecycle methodology, including intake, assessment, prioritization, requirements, solution design, planning, build or configuration, testing, training, deployment, validation, and closeout. * · Partner with stakeholders to define business needs, expected outcomes, requirements, priorities, acceptance criteria, dependencies, and implementation readiness. * · Develop and maintain project plans, status updates, decisions, action items, and stakeholder communications. * · Coordinate internal team members and third-party vendor personnel to deliver agreed outcomes. * · Facilitate project meetings, testing sessions, workflow reviews, implementation planning, and post-implementation evaluations. * · Support system upgrades, integrations, interfaces, regulatory changes, and other initiatives affecting the EMR environment., * Hybrid work arrangement combining in-office and remote work based on business, provider, and project needs. * Must live within reasonable commuting distance of the designated Healix office. * Occasional travel may be required for clinic, vendor, implementation, or project activities. * After-hour availability may be required for planned implementations, upgrades, or critical production events.

Requirements

  • A hands-on performer who is comfortable moving between detailed issue resolution, project coordination, vendor management, and stakeholder leadership.
  • A relationship builder who earns credibility with physicians, providers, clinic teams, Revenue Cycle partners, and technical teams.
  • A clear communicator who sets expectations, shares both good and difficult news transparently, and follows through on commitments.
  • A collaborative professional who balances urgency, quality, accountability, cost-effectiveness, and user experience., * Experience supporting, administering, implementing an ambulatory, specialty, post-acute, or long-term care EMR.
  • Hands-on experience assessing issues, coordinating resolution, managing priorities, and working directly with software vendors.
  • Experience coordinating enhancements or projects across multiple phases of a structured project lifecycle methodology.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional internal teams and external vendor resources without relying solely on formal authority.
  • Understanding of clinical, provider, ambulatory practice, or healthcare operational workflows.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including meeting facilitation, documentation, and stakeholder updates.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, follow-through, and problem-solving skills.
  • Positive attitude, high level of ownership, sound judgment, and a service-oriented approach.
  • Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment and collaborate with both on-site and remote team members., * Experience supporting revenue cycle workflows, including documentation, charge capture, coding, claims, and reimbursement activities.
  • Experience coordinating laboratory, diagnostic, HIE, e-prescribing, or other clinical system integrations.
  • Knowledge of healthcare interoperability concepts and standards such as HL7, FHIR, CCD, and C-CDA.
  • Project management, process improvement, or related training or certification., * Do you have knowledge of healthcare interoperability concepts and standards such as HL7, FHIR, CCD and C-CDA?
  • Do you have experience supporting revenue cycle workflows, including documentation, charge capture, coding, claims, and reimbursement activities?
  • Do you have experience coordinating laboratory, diagnostic, HIE, e-prescribing or other clinical system integrations?
