Job description

The Senior DevOps Engineer designs, automates, and supports secure, reliable, cloud-native delivery platforms across AWS, EKS/Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, and GitOps. This role partners with development, QA, security, infrastructure, and Scrum teams to improve delivery speed, platform resiliency, operational visibility, technology currency, and cloud cost management. The position also applies AI-assisted engineering tools, such as Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot or similar platforms, accelerate automation, troubleshooting, documentation, and delivery while maintaining quality, security and review standards., Design, build, and maintain secure cloud-native delivery platforms using AWS, EKS/Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, and GitOps practices. * Own and continuously improve DevOps platform standards, reusable delivery patterns, secure pipeline practices, and governance guardrails. * Develop reusable automation, deployment patterns, scripts, and platform capabilities that improve reliability, scalability, compliance, and developer productivity. * Lead technical problem solving, troubleshooting, code reviews, and engineering standards for complex delivery and infrastructure issues. * Support cloud implementations, upgrades, migrations, and change requests with reusable, well-governed components. * Maintain awareness of cloud, DevOps, AI-assisted engineering, and platform technology trends to keep ACT solutions current and effective.

20% - Business Partnering, Relationship and Service Management * Partner with Scrum teams, application teams, security, infrastructure, and leadership to align platform work with delivery priorities, operational needs, technology currency, and cloud cost objectives. * Work with Scrum teams to identify platform currency needs, inefficient cloud usage, right-sizing opportunities, and cost-conscious design choices. * Own and keep stakeholders informed of solution progress, risks, decisions, implementation timelines, and opportunities to improve delivery or reduce operational cost.

20% - Analysis & Requirements Gathering * Identify solution gaps, managed service provider issues, technology risks, and opportunities for standardization, automation, cost optimization, or improved resiliency. * Elicit and translate business, functional, and non-functional requirements into clear technical plans and recommendations. * Role Progression within the first three months: * Assess ACT DevOps processes and the repository, bootstrap, Jenkins, Jira, Bitbucket, Ansible, Terraform, ArgoCD, AWS, and EKS ecosystem to identify gaps and improvement opportunities. * Develop initial tool and platform roadmaps, including recommendations for technology currency, automation opportunities, and cost-aware improvements. * Build relationships with Scrum teams and stakeholders, becoming a trusted DevOps SME who helps shape delivery practices, platform standards, and operating priorities.

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible IT experience, including DevOps, platform engineering, cloud automation, or infrastructure delivery. * Experience with CI/CD automation tools, cloud automation, Infrastructure as Code, and software version control; Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible, AWS, and Git preferred. * Experience with containers, Kubernetes, cloud-native deployment patterns, and GitOps; AWS EKS and ArgoCD preferred. * Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools such as Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot, or similar platforms to support automation, infrastructure code, documentation, testing, or troubleshooting. * Experience working in managed services, project delivery, change management, or complex enterprise technology environments. * Strong understanding of modern DevOps, platform engineering, CI/CD, GitOps, cloud-native delivery, observability, and DevSecOps practices. * Linux administration, scripting, and automation skills using Python, Go, Bash, PowerShell, or similar languages. * Ability to communicate clearly, build relationships across teams, and translate business needs into practical technical solutions. * Strong problem solving, decision making, analytical thinking, and ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy. * Ability to mentor, advise, and influence technical teams while supporting standards, continuous improvement, and responsible AI-assisted engineering practices. * Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, or related area of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.

It’s a plus if you have: * Experience modernizing legacy deployment processes into cloud-native, GitOps, or platform engineering models. * Enterprise software development or managed services experience.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary in the range of $100,000 to $130,000. ACT manages salaries within the range based on relevant factors including, skills, experience, and internal equity. This position is not incentive eligible.
