Job description

Nova Shores Restaurants is seeking a hands-on, service-oriented Restaurant IT Manager to oversee all technology operations across our Burger King restaurants. This position is responsible for maintaining the reliability, security, and performance of restaurant technology systems while delivering exceptional support to restaurant operations.

The Restaurant IT Manager will lead IT initiatives, manage vendors, oversee restaurant technology infrastructure, and ensure that all locations remain fully operational. This role requires a proactive leader who can balance strategic technology planning with hands-on troubleshooting in a fast-paced, multi-unit restaurant environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Restaurant Technology Support

  • Serve as the primary IT contact for all restaurant locations.
  • Support and troubleshoot Point-of-Sale (POS) systems, kitchen display systems (KDS), payment processing devices, digital menu boards, drive-thru technology, timekeeping systems, and restaurant back-office equipment.
  • Respond promptly to technology issues to minimize operational downtime.
  • Provide remote and on-site technical support as needed.

Network & Infrastructure

  • Maintain and troubleshoot restaurant networks, including routers, switches, firewalls, Wi-Fi, VPNs, and internet connectivity.
  • Coordinate internet installations and service with telecommunications providers.
  • Monitor system performance and recommend infrastructure improvements.

Microsoft 365 & Systems Administration

  • Administer Microsoft 365, including user accounts, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and licensing.
  • Manage user access, permissions, and cybersecurity controls.
  • Maintain inventory of IT hardware and software assets.

Cybersecurity

  • Implement and maintain cybersecurity best practices.
  • Support PCI DSS compliance and data security initiatives.
  • Coordinate software updates, endpoint protection, backups, and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Investigate and respond to security incidents.

Vendor & Project Management

  • Manage relationships with POS vendors, internet service providers, hardware suppliers, and other technology partners.
  • Oversee IT projects, including new restaurant openings, remodels, hardware refreshes, and technology upgrades.
  • Track vendor performance, service levels, and project timelines.

Leadership & Training

  • Train restaurant management teams on technology systems and best practices.
  • Develop IT policies, procedures, and user documentation.
  • Communicate technology initiatives and system updates to operations leadership.

Requirements

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience supporting IT operations in a multi-site restaurant, retail, or hospitality environment.
  • Experience supporting Point-of-Sale (POS) systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration.
  • Experience troubleshooting business networks, including routers, switches, Wi-Fi, VPNs, and firewalls.
  • Experience managing IT vendors and service providers.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to travel regularly between restaurant locations throughout South Florida.
  • Ability to provide after-hours and weekend support for critical business needs.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) brand.
  • Experience with restaurant technology rollouts and new store openings.
  • Knowledge of PCI DSS compliance and payment security.
  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft, or Cisco.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and transport equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in restaurant environments, including kitchens and dining areas.
  • Frequent travel between restaurant locations.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays when operational needs require.
