Job description

The Extraction Engineer will be responsible for understanding the Allscripts Sunrise source environment, developing and executing data extraction processes, transforming source data into Epic-compatible structures and formats, and supporting data validation and reconciliation. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Allscripts Sunrise data structures, healthcare data extraction, SQL, ETL, data transformation, and Epic data migration., * Extract MPI and PAMI data from Allscripts Sunrise and associated databases, repositories, and source systems.

  • Analyze Allscripts Sunrise data structures, tables, fields, relationships, and data dependencies to determine appropriate extraction methodologies.
  • Develop and execute SQL queries, scripts, and extraction routines to retrieve required patient and administrative data.
  • Extract patient demographic, identity, encounter, provider, facility, registration, insurance, and other required PAMI data elements.
  • Transform Allscripts Sunrise source data into Epic-compatible formats and structures based on defined migration specifications.
  • Develop and maintain source-to-target mappings between Allscripts Sunrise and Epic.
  • Apply transformation, cleansing, normalization, and standardization logic to prepare data for Epic loading.
  • Support MPI/eMPI data conversion, including patient identifiers, demographic attributes, aliases, addresses, contact information, and other patient identity elements.
  • Identify and resolve data quality issues that could impact Epic loading or patient matching.
  • Support extraction and transformation of historical PAMI data required for Epic implementation or migration.
  • Work closely with Epic conversion analysts to ensure extracted data meets Epic loading requirements and specifications.
  • Partner with data migration, integration, MPI, clinical, and technical teams to resolve mapping and conversion issues.
  • Perform data profiling, validation, reconciliation, and record-count comparisons between Allscripts Sunrise and converted datasets.
  • Develop processes to identify missing, invalid, duplicate, or inconsistent source data.
  • Support mock conversions, testing cycles, data validation, dress rehearsals, and production migration activities.
  • Previous experience supporting an Allscripts Sunrise-to-Epic migration.
  • Experience with Epic data conversion and Epic load processes.
  • Experience with Epic MPI/Identity and PAMI conversion activities.
  • Familiarity with Epic conversion tools, templates, or loading methodologies.
  • Experience with large-scale hospital or health system EHR migrations.
  • Experience with ETL tools and data transformation frameworks.
  • Troubleshoot extraction and transformation issues and modify processes as requirements evolve.
  • Maintain detailed technical documentation for extraction routines, data mappings, transformation rules, and conversion processes.
  • Ensure all data handling and migration activities comply with HIPAA, security, privacy, and organizational requirements.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in healthcare data extraction, ETL, data conversion, or healthcare application integration.
  • Hands-on experience working with Allscripts Sunrise data.
  • Demonstrated experience extracting data from Allscripts Sunrise databases or associated data repositories.
  • Strong SQL skills, including the ability to develop complex queries against healthcare databases.
  • Experience with healthcare data transformation and source-to-target mapping.
  • Experience supporting EHR data migration or conversion projects.
  • Understanding of patient identity, MPI/eMPI, registration, and demographic data.
  • Experience preparing data for loading into an EHR, preferably Epic.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare data structures and relationships.
  • Experience with data profiling, cleansing, validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Python, PowerShell, or other scripting languages.
  • Experience with HL7, FHIR, XML, JSON, APIs, or other healthcare interoperability standards.
  • Experience with patient matching, duplicate remediation, and enterprise MPI initiatives.
  • Experience working with Allscripts Sunrise Clinical Manager and/or associated Sunrise applications.
