Job description

Constellation is seeking a Lead Software Architect to provide end-to-end ownership of technical product delivery across automation and full-stack development initiatives. This role is responsible for guiding architecture, directing engineering workstreams, and ensuring solutions align with client mission needs and program objectives. The Lead Architect works closely with developers and stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions, oversee execution across React/Spring Boot web-based applications and Python data/ETL processes, and drive informed decision-making throughout the delivery lifecycle. This position serves as the primary technical authority in client engagements, providing clear direction, presenting solutions, and ensuring delivery quality, performance, and accountability across teams., * Technical Leadership: Provide architectural oversight and technical direction across teams developing full-stack applications (React, Spring Boot) and Python-based automations. Validate engineering approaches, enforce best practices, and ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and maintainable.

  • Solution Architecture: Translate complex client requirements into clear, actionable technical designs. Lead solutioning sessions and define system architecture and automated processes in collaboration with engineering teams.
  • Client Engagement: Serve as the primary technical interface with stakeholders. Present solutions, guide decision-making, and manage trade-offs to ensure alignment with mission and program objectives.
  • Delivery Oversight: Oversee execution across technical workstreams, managing priorities, risks, and escalations. Identify and resolve technical challenges early to maintain delivery timelines and quality.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, technical delivery, or solution architecture with proven experience in front-end development using React and backend ecosystems such as Java/Spring or similar enterprise-grade languages.
  • Proven experience leading system architecture and delivering scalable, cloud-based (AWS/Azure) solutions, as well as leading teams delivering web applications and/or automations.
  • Experience overseeing cross-functional engineering teams (backend, frontend, data), including providing mentorship and guidance to team members on code reviews and design approach.
  • Strong client-facing skills, including presenting technical solutions and driving decision-making
  • Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, React component design and common component libraries, and secure web development practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • Be a U.S. citizen able to pass a background investigation by the client agency. DHS clearance with CBP/ICE, or DoD Top-Secret preferred.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience supporting federal programs or working in regulated environments
  • Background in product ownership or technical product management.
