Job description

Under general supervision, supports, maintains and troubleshoots a LAN/WAN operation with at least two hundred personal computers (PCs) in a mixed product environment, including Microsoft, Cisco, Linux, and Apple; and, perform other duties as assigned. Duties will be performed from assigned desk, as well as on the shop floor., * Processes work orders related to computer problems, domain account/ access, mapping to shared drives/printers and various computer peripherals, including, but not limited to, troubleshooting and correcting problems remotely;

  • Performs scheduled hardware and/or software installations;
  • Configures and installs new or replacement computers, network printers, and other computer peripherals as assigned;
  • Maintains and administers PC infrastructure on a daily basis, as needed;
  • Collaborates with staff to resolve application, phone, printer, or computer problems in real time;
  • Creates and troubleshoots customer accounts, supports end users’ devices including PCs, printers, and smart phones;
  • Assists staff with desktop application installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting, including Remote Access, VPN, and other secure access clients;
  • Installs and deploys new desktop PCs and notebooks, including data migration; and
  • Documents workload and all troubleshooting activities within the work order system in real time.
  • Regular punctuality, attendance, and absence reporting in conformance with company policies is essential to the successful performance of this position; and
  • Fully comply with company rules, policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure safe and effective operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience; and
  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in information technology (IT) with emphasis in providing excellent customer service.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft products including Windows, Active Directory, Office, SharePoint, SQL Server, and Exchange;
  • Must be a self-starter;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Demonstrate proven track record of providing excellent customer service (including communicating to staff the status of projects and targeted completion dates) to individuals using IT services in small to mid-size companies;
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills; and
  • Strong ability to organize and multi-task while assuring that the customer’s needs are met.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.;
  • Most work tasks are performed indoors where temperature is moderate and controlled by office environment systems;
  • Ability to work (sit and/or stand) at a desk for the majority of the work day; walking and/or standing may be required for the remainder of the work day. Length of time performing these physical requirements may vary from day to day and task to task;
  • Requires grasping, writing, sitting, standing, walking, repetitive motions, pulling, pushing, listening and hearing ability, and visual acuity;
  • Ability to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, filing cabinets, photocopiers and other office equipment as applicable.
  • Ability to perform essential functions of the job, as defined; and
  • Reasonable accommodations provided upon request.
