Job description

  • Maintain existing high-quality software applications to ensure performance, quality, and responsiveness.
  • Coroner’s Medical Examiner system - a computerized information management system established to collect documents and information generated from medicolegal and toxicological death investigations to determine cause and manner of death; generate statistical data; and retain such for chain of custody, evidence preservation, and to address public records requests.
  • Systems to aid in the identification of decedents o DAVID (Driver and Vehicle Information Database) o Clerk of Courts - Gatekeeper o Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO) Mugshot o MDSO’s StarLims - Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for submittal of DNA o Miami Dade County (County) Corrections and Rehabilitation Department’s Mainframe o Jackson Memorial Hospital Medical Records database

  • Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems such as:
  • X-Ray systems: full body system, portable, and PACS server.
  • Active Directory Management, Group Policies, Server Management: Printer Servers, Network Shares, Application Infrastructures
  • Backup Systems: Onsite private network and Onsite/Remote network.
  • Computers, laptops, iPads, etc.
  • Develop technical requirements and participate in the procurement process to advertise and award capital and non-capital funded projects such as:
  • Case Management - replacement application for our existing Coroner’s and Medical Examiner application which Is near its end of life and support.
  • LIMS - replacement standalone application for our existing module within the Coroner’s and Medical Examiner application.
  • Audio-Visual System - replacement of our outdated audiovisual system in the auditorium and two conference rooms within the Medical Examiner’s facility with a modern updated integrated digital system
  • Apple IOS Application - to integrate our Case Management application with features offered by iPad technology
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and shape new features, utilizing software such as PowerBI and Artificial Intelligence.
  • Lead code reviews and provide technical mentorship to the ME Software Developers.
  • Participate in architectural discussions and help drive technical decisions.
  • Develop and manage the fiscal budget for the Computer Services Bureau with input from all departmental bureaus to include submittal of requisitions and receipts for payment of invoices.
  • Develop and maintain departmental performance metrics via the County’s Strategic Management System.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends.

Note: Some worksite locations are in areas (ex. Morgue) where the successful candidate will be exposed to human remains, including remains that are in various stages of decomposition. This will include, but is not limited to exposure to blood, exposed internal organs, and foul odors.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree. Five years of experience in software development and systems analysis are required. Additional related work experience in software development and systems analysis may substitute for the required college education on a year-for-year basis.
