Job description

We are seeking an Algorithm Software Engineer to support the development of a complex defense command-and-control system. The engineer will develop and maintain Java-based software that implements mathematical algorithms supporting real-time tracking capabilities.

This position supports the full software development lifecycle, including design, implementation, code review, integration, testing, troubleshooting, and technical presentations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Java-based software supporting real-time tracking and algorithm capabilities.
  • Implement mathematical algorithms within tactical software applications.
  • Create and maintain software design documentation and other technical artifacts.
  • Participate in software design reviews and code reviews.
  • Develop and execute automated unit tests.
  • Support software integration, system testing, and requirements verification.
  • Investigate software and system behavior, identify root causes, and recommend solutions.
  • Present software designs and technical results to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in Agile planning, sprint planning, work decomposition, and execution.
  • Collaborate with systems engineering, integration and test, deployment, and operational support teams.

Requirements

Clearance: Active DoD Secret Experience: 1+ years Certification: No IAT certification required. Security+ is preferred., * Active DoD Secret clearance.

  • At least 1 year of related software engineering or algorithm development experience.
  • Experience developing Java applications or software using another object-oriented programming language.
  • Experience working in Unix or Linux environments.
  • Basic experience designing or developing complex mathematical algorithms.
  • Understanding of full software development lifecycle activities.
  • Experience supporting software integration and testing.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to evaluate system behavior, identify root causes, and recommend solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams in a dynamic environment., * Degree or technical training in computer science, software engineering, mathematics, or a related field.
  • Experience developing software within an Agile environment.
  • Experience participating in work decomposition and sprint planning.
  • Experience developing software or algorithms within a structured, process-based team environment.
  • Experience developing Java applications within a DevSecOps framework.
  • Experience developing automated unit tests and verifying software requirements.
  • Experience using MATLAB or Python to prototype algorithms before transitioning them into tactical Java software.
  • Security+ certification.
