Solution Architect - AI

This consultant will lead a high-visibility defense customers assessment focused on Jira modernization, backlog prioritization, reporting transformation, and AI readiness. The client is struggling to prioritize hundreds of features across multiple programs and relies heavily on manual Excel reporting today. The consultant will engage directly with executives, PMs, product teams, and engineering leaders to identify operational gaps and develop the roadmap that enables future AI-driven prioritization, forecasting, and decision support capabilities

As part of your day to day, you will:

• Lead workshops and discovery sessions with executives, product owners, PMs, delivery teams, and technical stakeholders.
• Assess Jira project structures, workflows, boards, Epics, Features, Stories, dependencies, and backlog management processes.
• Analyze how teams prioritize work today and identify process gaps impacting delivery and reporting.
• Evaluate reporting processes currently dependent on Jira exports, Excel spreadsheets, and manual analysis.
• Create prioritization frameworks that help project managers and leadership determine what work should be done first and why.
• Assess Jira data quality, workflow consistency, governance maturity, and overall AI readiness.
• Identify opportunities for AI-driven backlog prioritization, dependency analysis, forecasting, reporting automation, and risk detection.
• Deliver executive-ready findings, future-state recommendations, and a phased transformation roadmap

• 8+ years of Solution Architecture, Enterprise Architecture, Digital Transformation, or Technology Consulting experience
• Enterprise Jira Transformation Experience
• Backlog Prioritization & Portfolio Management Expertise
• Discovery/Consulting Background Leading Assessments
• AI Strategy & Readiness Assessment Experience (not hands-on AI development)
• Knowledge of data governance, data quality, metadata management, and reporting architectures
• Experience developing executive-ready roadmaps, recommendations, business cases, and transformation strategies
• Experience assessing Jira maturity and recommending governance, workflow, and operating model improvements Local to TX

DoD / Defense industry experience

Deep Jira expertise, including:

• Workflow design and governance
• Backlog management
• Epic, Feature, and Story hierarchy
• Dependency management

Jira reporting and portfolio visibility

Compensation: $95-120/HR Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401K retirement account access with employer matching.
