Internal candidates should always use Luma Opportunities., Information Technology Services (ITS) currently has an opening for an IT Database Administration Analyst III (DBA III) position in our Chinden office in Boise.
The selected individual must possess an in-depth knowledge of how to install and manage large, complex database management systems to ensure the security, quality, and integrity of data resources. Work will be performed in a MS SQL Server and MySQL environment supporting the missions of State of Idaho agencies and citizen digital services.
Please note: The successful candidates will be required to pass multiple, comprehensive fingerprint-based background checks specific to the agencies ITS supports.
Example of Duties:

Installs and configures new database server environments
-
Monitors and maintains the availability of databases across numerous servers
-
Manages permissions and access of data across various State agencies
-
Plans and coordinates database migration efforts as environmental requirements and support scopes change over time

Designs, implements, reviews and updates stored procedures and functions as required to facilitate state-wide database maintenance efforts
-
Uses SQL tracing to identify root-cause of process breaks
-
Writes SQL scripts to fulfill maintenance needs as they arise
-
Designs, implements, or reconfigures ETL processes as agency needs change
-
Coordinates with development and hosting teams to implement new enterprise-level systems and services

Database performance tuning and database storage forecasting
Requirements
-
Experience installing, administering and monitoring production databases and database servers.Typically gained by a minimum of one year of full-time work experience where installing, administering and monitoring production databases and database servers was part of your primary job functions.

Experience training and mentoring staff throughout the organization on the effective and secure use of data.Typically gained by a minimum of one year of full-time work experience where training and mentoring staff throughout the organization on the effective and secure use of data was part of your primary job responsibilities.

Experience monitoring and tuning the performance of databases, queries and indexes.Typically gained by a minimum of one year of full-time work experience where you regularly monitored and tuned the performance of databases, queries and indexes as part of your primary responsibilities.

Experience developing procedures and controls to ensure database security, integrity and availability.Typically gained by a minimum of one year of full-time work experience where you developed procedures and controls to ensure database security, integrity and availability.

Experience resolving complex database problems.Typically gained by a minimum of two years of full-time work experience where you resolved complex database problems as part of your primary job functions OR at least one year of full-time work experience where you resolved various level-three database escalation tickets as your primary job responsibility

Experience in database resource planning.Typically gained by a minimum of one year of full-time work experience where database resource planning was part of your primary job responsibilities
Special Consideration for:

Experience managing Microsoft SQL Server

Experience managing MySQL environments

Experience creating and managing SSIS packages

Experience designing, deploying and managing SSRS reports

Experience setting up or maintaining SQL failover cluster environments

Experience managing Windows servers in a virtual environment

Experience creating and maintaining Azure Data Factory (ADF) workflows and instances
