Job description
Your morning starts on the floor with technicians-facilitating daily performance huddles, walking Gemba, and modeling leader standard work. You review safety, quality, delivery, and cost dashboards, then clear obstacles before dispatching work orders and cross-leveling assignments to balance the shop and field.
Late morning, you approve timesheets and work orders, ensure service records and parts usage are accurate in our systems, and check that van appearance and inventory levels meet our standards. You step out to visit a customer site, support a tech on a complex call, and confirm follow-up on quality in the field.
In the afternoon, you moderate a team meeting to surface the voice of the technician, escalate roadblocks to the Service Manager or central support, and realign priorities. You verify preventive maintenance completion to company targets and plan upcoming staffing coverage. You wrap the day with coaching, performance feedback, and development planning for your crew., * Drive operational excellence through lean practices: daily huddles, Gemba walks, root-cause problem solving, and adherence to leader standard work.
- Monitor and act on safety, quality, delivery, and cost metrics to elevate customer satisfaction and profitability.
- Dispatch, balance, and manage all work orders across shop and field resources; escalate barriers quickly.
- Approve timesheets/work orders and maintain precise service and parts records within our platforms.
- Uphold safety culture, policy compliance, van appearance, and inventory standards.
- Manage the preventive maintenance program to company completion goals.
- Lead technician performance cycles: appraisals, training, promotions, salary considerations, and corrective actions.
- Advocate for technicians by aggregating feedback and removing roadblocks at key service touchpoints.
- Assist with staffing level decisions and long-term career pathing for technicians.
Other duties as assigned., You will directly supervise service technicians and coordinate both shop and field activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; 2-4 years of related leadership experience or an equivalent blend of education and experience.
- Record of leading teams to results; strong presentation, listening, and written/verbal communication skills.
- Able to solve practical problems and navigate diverse, real-world variables.
- Industry exposure to material handling or service-centric environments preferred.
- Experience with lean operating systems and continuous improvement is a plus.
Tools & Systems
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Comfortable learning and using auxiliary platforms including Salesforce, SAP, and ServiceMax., This role involves regular standing and walking; frequent sitting; manual dexterity and reaching; and clear communication by talking and hearing. You’ll frequently lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move up to 25 pounds. Vision needs include close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
