Job description
We are seeking a reliable, tech-conscious Vehicle Data Collection Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will play a critical part in gathering real-world mapping and sensor data used to advance autonomous vehicle and spatial mapping technologies.
You will operate fleet vehicles as an active driver on a major rideshare platform-accepting passenger trips via the app-while ensuring that mounted data collection systems (including high-definition cameras and LiDAR sensors) run continuously and accurately along your routes., * Passenger Operations: Accept, navigate, and complete real-world passenger rides via a designated rideshare application, providing a safe, professional, and comfortable customer experience.
- Data System Management: Ensure all vehicle data collection technology-including LiDAR, cameras, and data loggers-is powered on, calibrated, and actively capturing data during all operational hours.
- Pre/Post-Trip Checks: Conduct routine checks on sensor mounts, camera lenses, and recording hardware before and after each shift to maintain optimal data quality.
- System Monitoring & Escalation: Monitor hardware and software status displays while driving; immediately document and report hardware errors, sensor disruptions, or software bugs to the operations team.
- Safety & Compliance: Strictly adhere to all local traffic laws, TaskUs safety protocols, and rideshare platform guidelines at all times.
Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License: Active US driver’s license with a clean driving record (must meet standard rideshare driver eligibility requirements).
- Driving Experience: Minimum of 3 years of licensed driving experience (prior rideshare, taxi, or delivery experience is a strong plus).
- Tech-Savvy: Comfortable operating touchscreen interfaces, following technical troubleshooting checklists, and working around onboard hardware/sensors.
- Customer Service Focus: Strong interpersonal skills and a professional, friendly demeanor when interacting with passengers.
- Adaptability: Comfortable driving in diverse traffic conditions, weather, and light levels.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with Autonomous Vehicle (AV) operations, fleet driving, or data collection projects.
- Basic understanding of sensor systems (LiDAR, optical cameras, GPS telemetry).
