Job description

We are seeking a Navy SATCOM Terminals Systems Engineer with 8 or more years of experience in military satellite communications, protected SATCOM, and DoD acquisition engineering. The engineer will support the Navy Multiband Terminal (NMT) program and contribute to protected SATCOM modernization initiatives essential to the Navy’s strategic communications mission.

The ideal candidate brings deep technical knowledge of AEHF/ESS/WGS/PATS protected SATCOM, terminal-system integration, and ground/space segment interoperability. This role involves working closely with Navy program offices, government stakeholders, and industry partners to participate in design reviews, analyze technical requirements, and ensure protected SATCOM terminal capabilities meet mission needs.

* Provide protected SATCOM technical expertise to the Navy Multiband Terminal (NMT) program. * Participate in technical and milestone reviews, including SRR, PDR, and CDR, providing engineering analysis and recommendations. * Support testing and integration between NMT and current/future protected SATCOM constellations. * Evaluate technical specifications, interface control documents (ICDs), and system performance requirements to support government decision-making. * Develop and present analysis on interoperability, protected waveform behavior, resiliency, and mission capability. * Identify potential improvements to existing terminal capabilities through software or minor hardware updates. * Apply MILSATCOM system expertise to identify technical risks and ensure protected SATCOM mission continuity. * Facilitate technical communication with Navy program offices, space segment developers, NSA, USSF, and industry partners. * Support systems engineering processes consistent with DoD/DoN standards, including integration, verification, validation, and SETR participation. * Conduct modernization assessments, trade studies, requirements traceability, and change management for SATCOM terminal systems. * Collaborate with engineering teams to design, integrate, test, and sustain NMT and ancillary SATCOM systems throughout the lifecycle.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in military satellite communications or related systems engineering.
  • Technical experience with protected MILSATCOM, specifically AEHF, ESS, and PATS.
  • Demonstrated participation in SRR/PDR/CDR-level reviews for major acquisition programs.
  • Ability to analyze satellite terminal specifications, protected waveform operations, and ground system requirements.
  • Understanding of joint strategic communications architectures, CONOPs, and operational use cases.
  • Experience documenting technical risks, opportunities, and recommended mitigations.
  • Excellent communication skills for conveying complex technical issues to engineering and program management personnel.
  • Active Secret clearance required; TS/SCI preferred.
  • Experience supporting DoD SATCOM or C4I systems.
  • Knowledge of DoD acquisition process and SETR requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
* Degree in engineering or a related technical field. * Experience supporting PMW/A 170, NMT, or Military SATCOM programs. * Understanding of engineering principles, protected waveform behavior, and terminal-constellation interoperability., * Bachelor's (Required) Experience: * MILSATCOM: 8 years (Preferred) Security clearance: * Secret (Required) Willingness to travel: * 25% (Preferred)
