Product Owner

The Product Owner is responsible for translating business needs and product direction into clear, prioritized requirements for the development team. This role works closely with stakeholders, UX/design, development, and QA throughout the product development lifecycle to ensure solutions deliver value to customers and the business.

The Product Owner manages assigned areas of the product backlog, defines requirements and expected outcomes, and helps guide work from initial discovery through development, validation, and release. This role requires strong analytical and communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to understand complex business processes and translate them into effective software solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and prioritize the product backlog for assigned areas of the application.
• Translate business needs, customer feedback, and product objectives into clear features, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Define business rules, workflows, validation requirements, permissions, error states, dependencies, and edge cases.
• Work with stakeholders and users to understand problems, requirements, and opportunities for improvement.
• Collaborate with UX/design to create intuitive and effective user experiences.
• Partner with development and QA throughout the development lifecycle to clarify requirements and validate solutions.
• Participate in backlog refinement, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and other Agile activities.
• Make timely product decisions and help resolve questions, blockers, and competing requirements.
• Review completed functionality to ensure it meets requirements and expected business outcomes.
• Communicate priorities, scope, decisions, progress, and risks to stakeholders.
• Maintain a strong understanding of assigned product areas and how changes may impact the broader platform.
• Stay informed about customer needs, industry trends, competitors, and relevant technologies.

• Experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, Business Analyst, or similar role within a software development organization.
• Strong understanding of Agile software development and the product development lifecycle.
• Experience writing user stories, acceptance criteria, and detailed software requirements.
• Ability to understand complex business processes and translate them into clear software solutions.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong attention to detail while maintaining an understanding of broader business objectives.
• Ability to work collaboratively across Product, Design, Development, QA, and business teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with B2B SaaS or enterprise software.
• Experience with complex workflow-driven or operational software.
• Experience working closely with UX/design teams.
• Experience with Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar tools.
• Familiarity with construction, field service, scheduling, estimating, purchasing, accounting, or related business processes is a plus.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
