Job description

The Information Security Specialist supports the protection, accountability, and proper handling of classified and controlled information in accordance with federal security regulations and agency policies. This role provides technical expertise in information security, classification management, Operations Security (OPSEC), and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), while ensuring compliance with government directives and safeguarding sensitive information up to the TS/SCI level., The Information Security Specialist will:

  • Serve as the Information Security subject matter expert, providing technical guidance and interpreting government security policies and directives.
  • Assist with developing, implementing, and maintaining classified information security programs and procedures.
  • Provide guidance to account holders on classified information handling, storage, safeguarding, and accountability requirements.
  • Monitor information security controls to ensure the protection and accountability of classified documents and materials up to the TS/SCI level.
  • Identify opportunities to improve, automate, and document information security processes and procedures.
  • Exercise sound judgment regarding the reproduction, transmission, access, storage, and distribution of classified information through information technology systems as well as traditional courier and postal methods.
  • Support security accreditation activities by assisting with risk assessments, vulnerability assessments, and Risk Management Framework (RMF) implementation efforts.
  • Conduct inspections of classified information holdings, records, and security practices to verify compliance with applicable federal regulations and agency directives.
  • Document inspection findings and provide recommendations for corrective actions and continuous process improvement.
  • Assist in investigations involving lost, compromised, or improperly handled classified information and provide recommendations for corrective measures.
  • Support the National Operations Security (OPSEC) Program in accordance with applicable federal directives and policies.
  • Assist with the administration and compliance of the Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) Program.
  • Prepare reports, maintain security documentation, and support special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience in one or more of the following security disciplines:
  • Information Security

  • Communications or Signals Security (COMSEC/SIGSEC)
  • Counterintelligence
  • Antiterrorism or Counterterrorism
  • Counter-Surveillance or Surveillance Detection

  • Force Protection
  • Technology Protection
  • Industrial Security
  • Emergency Management
  • Continuity of Operations (COOP)
  • Safety and Investigations Programs
  • Experience maintaining accountability of classified documents, media, and equipment.
  • Experience reviewing classified materials for proper markings, classification determinations, and declassification requirements.
  • Working knowledge of federal information security regulations, government security programs, and classified information handling procedures.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining security policies and compliance programs.
  • Strong written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Relevant experience based on level:
  • Junior: 2-3 years
  • Mid-Level: 3-5 years
  • Senior: 5+ years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting the Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) Program.
  • Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC).
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

This position requires an active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance to be considered.

In accordance with government contract requirements, this position is limited to U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents. Documentation verifying citizenship or permanent resident status is required prior to employment.

Compensation & Benefits

Estimated Salary: $120,000-$125,000 annually (commensurate with experience)
