Job description

The Engineering Manager serves as a senior technology leader responsible for aligning global technology strategy with regional market needs across Canada and Mexico. This role leads software engineering teams, drives technology modernization, improves software quality and operational excellence, and partners with business and technology stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions. The position focuses on engineering leadership, software delivery, platform modernization, quality, security, technical governance, and organizational transformation while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.

What you’ll do…

Technology Strategy

  • Design, develop, and deliver software solutions using appropriate technologies, frameworks, and methodologies.
  • Continuously improve platform performance and development efficiency.
  • Partner with architecture teams to ensure compliance with global technology standards.
  • Audit application portfolios to eliminate duplication and improve efficiency.
  • Drive legacy transformation initiatives aligned with global technology lifecycle strategies.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead and provide technical direction to software engineering teams across Canada and Mexico.
  • Mentor and develop high-performing engineering talent.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Support regional managers in achieving market objectives through technology leadership.
  • Report technology and quality initiatives to the Engineering Director.

Engineering Operations & Quality

  • Own quality and security practices throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
  • Improve engineering transparency, metrics collection, and incident resolution processes.
  • Promote adoption of software craftsmanship principles and engineering best practices.

Innovation & Transformation

  • Identify and implement new technologies and digital initiatives that improve efficiency, customer experience, and business outcomes.

Vendor & Partner Management

  • Manage technology vendors and external partners to optimize delivery, value, and cost effectiveness.

Budget & Governance

  • Support IT budgeting, resource planning, governance, and investment decisions.
  • Ensure alignment, transparency, and return on technology investments.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with business leaders and stakeholders to translate business needs into technology solutions.
  • Build strong relationships across teams to promote knowledge sharing and eliminate duplicate or conflicting solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field OR a combination of education and experience
  • 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
  • 6+ years of experience in software design, programming, design patterns, and Java-based development.
  • Experience developing testable software features and conducting effective code reviews.
  • 4+ years of experience leading Agile software development teams and delivering enterprise-scale products.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • 4+ years of experience in software operations, including CI/CD, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), observability, application support, and maintenance.
  • 2+ years of experience in technical planning and solution architecture., * Experience collaborating across global or international markets.
  • Experience scaling applications and infrastructure.
  • Experience implementing Agile and Lean delivery methodologies.
  • Experience building predictable, efficient software delivery practices.
  • Experience managing complex cross-functional technical dependencies.
  • Experience collaborating with product and business owners on user journeys, roadmaps, and delivery plans.

SOUTHEAST MI RESIDENTS: This role is posted as remote unless you reside within 50 miles of Dearborn, MI-in which case we request on-site presence up to 4 days a week.
