Job description

The contractor shall deliver (under Government COR direction) a Senior Network Engineer Subject Matter Expert (SME), that possesses top tier planning and technical analysis for the design, implementation and operation of CISCO Switched Networks, with demonstrated experience with Industry Standard Proxy Servers, Firewalls, and Doman Servers. The SME assignment will be expected to work independently to deliver the following:

  • Under the direction of the OCIO CISO and/or delegated COR, server as the Operational SME for interacting with primary GSA EIS Technical Telecommunications Service provider of Managed Trusted Internet Protocol Service (MTIPS), and Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) services to establish, track, and archive all security or operational design changes (Lumen Change Request/Tickets) to respective physical or virtual hardware and cloud services to ensure performance, service continuity, security and compliance standards. Serve as agency CTR point of contact for 3rd party vendors who work service/operations service interruptions and manage the restoral and recovery of services as they evaluate the impact and risk to agency management and /escalate per the procedural protocols
  • Under the direction of the OCIO CISO and/or delegated COR, Maintain Firewall/Router HW/OS Configuration and Maintenance, (Azure WAF, Barracuda, Palo Alto, IronPort, Cisco and/or Fortigate).
  • CTR Project Lead Network Security Project Design and Engineering, (defense in depth), Identity Services Engine (ISE).
  • Accordingly, ensuring, NIST/FISMA Compliance with Network Security Standards and CIS benchmarks.
  • Supports the development and maintenance of current and future state Network enterprise architecture and supports the response to requested CISA/DHS data calls and metric reports.
  • Technical consultant and SME on the design, implementation, and ongoing operation and maintenance for On-Prem and/or Cloud COOP Engineering Design, Operations, (current and future state) Architectures.
  • Technical consultant and SME on the design, implementation, and ongoing operation and maintenance of the IPV6 Migration/Compliance Project, (and/or other technical projects as directed by OCIO, CISO or delegated COR).
  • The (timely and efficient) detailed planning, and/or execution for the installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting, training and maintenance of hardware and software systems, Network Cyber Security, Load-balance, segmenting strategies, Alt Routing/COOP to design the network towards the year 2030.
  • The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for the (timely and efficient) technical planning and execution of all Network Infrastructure

upgrades throughput the SSS enterprise while ensuring all data transit and interfaces are FISMA/FIPS compliant.

  • Either personally (or design and direct) Install, maintain and enhance (Network/Systems) equipment, services, and/or maintain technical documentation or procedures as needed.
  • Manage and load balance Network/Systems resources including performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability.
  • Continually implement and sustain (compliance of) security protocols, procedures, software patches, and tools to sustain compliance with the agency’s established configuration baseline.
  • Implement and maintain established system/network, interface protocols, procedures, software patches, and tools to sustain compliance with the agency’s established configuration baseline.
  • Develop, document, and/or maintain systems administration standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Analyze, troubleshoot and/or resolve hardware/software interface and interoperability problems.
  • Ensure the rigorous application of information security and information assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of systems administration services.
  • Working independently and/or with GSA EIS Technical Telecommunications Service provider, maintain an archive of for Network/Systems configuration documentation for equipment in the Enterprise.
  • Develop, maintain and archive disaster recovery documentation per the Agency’s standards and support all objectives for continuity of operations and systems/services failover
  • Monitor and analyze Splunk and/or SolarWinds and/or (designated) Security Information and event management (SIEM) applications audit logs, report any irregularities.
  • Implement, document, support, and maintain established Agency

Requirements

Do you have experience in System performance monitoring?, Additionally, the SME should have 6+ years of demonstrated experience with the following technologies, services and protocols:

  • Cisco Hardware Implementation, Maintenance and Support
  • NetApp Storage Implementation, Maintenance and Support
  • Subject matter expertise on Network Configuration, Interface and Security Protocols
  • Subject matter expertise on Network Traffic and Optimization practices and technologies
  • Virtual Storage Area Networks (VSANs)
  • VMWare and/or other Systems Virtualization protocols or practices.
  • VMWare ESXi 6.x Administration and Management
  • AWS and/or Azure Cloud Systems Management
  • SAN Storage Technologies
  • Veeam and cloud Backups
  • Server monitoring tools
  • RDS Terminal Servers, * CISCO CCNA (Required)
  • CISCO CCNP (Required)
  • AWS Certification (Required)
  • CompTIA CySA+ (Required)
