Job description

We have an exciting new opportunity for a System Test Engineer to join our Viasat Government team! In this role, you will work with a cross functional team to help develop & perform testing on our diverse satellite network ecosystem! Write test documentation to include test plans, procedures and test cases and then support lab build up to implement the testing.

The day-to-day

  • Prepare test plans
  • Prepare and execute test procedures on RF test equipment
  • Validate product design
  • Work with system engineering on requirements validation
  • Coordinate with SW engineering on defects and enhancement requests

Requirements

Do you have experience in Test Planning (Quality assurance practices)?, * 8+ years experience crafting test requirements, test plans, test cases and methodologies, and test documentation that guide system development.

  • General level of understanding of both the technical and process aspects of product design and able to evaluate products using documents describing their design and function.
  • Ready to use a variety of lab equipment like oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzer, network traffice generator and power supplies to evaluate and help fix systems.
  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems and basic troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including the OSI model, Layer 2 (Data Link) and Layer 3 (Network) technologies, and basic concepts of MAC addresses, IP addresses, TCP, and UDP protocols.
  • US citizenship required.
  • Up to 10% travel

  • Familiar with using requirements traceability tools (JAMA)

Benefits & conditions

$141,500.00 - $224,000.00 / annually. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $176,000.00- $264,000.00/ annually
