Job description

ManTech seeks a motivated, collaborative, and eager-to-learn Junior Software Engineer to begin their career with our team at Cape Canaveral, Florida.

This is an ideal opportunity for a recent graduate to apply their academic knowledge and grow into a skilled software professional while contributing to a mission of national importance.

As a member of our software development team, you will contribute to all phases of the software development lifecycle, from design and coding to testing and deployment. You will work on complex projects that involve integrating multiple systems, giving you hands-on experience with modern web development strategies and techniques. This position is designed to foster your skills through mentorship, training, and direct involvement in real-world applications.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Contribute to the development, maintenance, and enhancement of software web applications that support the 5th Space Launch Squadron.
  • Work alongside senior engineers to write clean, efficient, and well-documented code for new and existing applications.
  • Participate in software requirement reviews, design sessions, and agile development ceremonies (e.g., daily stand-ups, sprint planning).
  • Assist in testing and debugging applications to ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Help create user documentation and provide support to end-users.
  • Embrace collaborative work, including pair programming, to solve complex problems and learn best practices.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) discipline.
  • Foundational knowledge of at least one object-oriented programming language (e.g., C#, Python, Java).
  • Familiarity with web development fundamentals, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Ability to obtain a CompTIA Security+ certification within 6 months of hire (company sponsored).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Academic or internship experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., VueJS, Angular).
  • Familiarity with version control systems like Git.
  • Knowledge of database concepts (e.g., SQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
  • Experience with C#, the .NET framework, and Visual Studio.
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, RESTful APIs, and cloud-hosted applications.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. A clearance is not required to start.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.
  • Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery.
  • Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
