Job description

Now, we’re looking for a Technical Architect who wants to leave their mark - shaping the technical foundations of a business where what you design genuinely matters.

If you love solving complex problems, influencing technical direction, and working with smart, passionate engineers on modern platforms, this is where your expertise will shine.

Why this role is exciting

This isn’t an ivory-tower architecture role. You’ll be right in the detail, shaping designs, influencing decisions, and enabling squads to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions at pace.

You’ll work across a varied and evolving technology landscape, collaborating with Solution Architects, Engineering Principals, Developers, Product Owners and SREs to turn big ambitions into working, resilient systems.

You’ll have the space to experiment, improve, challenge the status quo and help define how Evri builds technology - now and next.

This role is hybrid / remote, with meaningful connection points into Morley when required.

What you’ll be doing

  • Turning high-level solution designs into clear, scalable and secure low-level designs
  • Setting the technical direction within your domain and championing best practice
  • Working hands-on with engineering teams to guide delivery and solve complex problems
  • Driving architectural consistency while knowing when pragmatism wins
  • Tackling technical debt head-on and raising engineering standards
  • Supporting incident resolution and system resilience
  • Leading documentation, standardisation and knowledge sharing
  • Exploring new technologies and running proofs of concept
  • Helping optimise cloud usage and infrastructure costs
  • Partnering with internal teams and third-party suppliers to ensure quality outcomes

Requirements

  • Proven experience designing and delivering solutions in large, complex environments
  • Deep hands-on expertise with Java and Spring Boot
  • Strong experience with AWS, including serverless technologies
  • Confidence with API-led design, modern coding practices and object-oriented principles
  • Experience building distributed systems and working with messaging and data platforms
  • The ability to zoom in and out - from architecture diagrams to real-world delivery
  • Clear communication skills and the confidence to challenge, influence and lead
  • A collaborative mindset and genuine passion for great engineering
