Job description
The Developer will actively contribute to development operations under generaldirection. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the development, enhancement, and maintenance of software applications, documenting code and software specifications, participating in code review, and consulting the Systems & Development Manager on development operations and metrics., * Serves as a technical resource for development operations addressing requests within
service level agreements and defined uptime requirements.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code following common best practices.
- Support the development of code and design software applications based on user
specifications.
- Modify existing software to correct errors or make improvements.
- Participate in troubleshooting and debugging applications.
- Participate in software testing and validation procedures.
- Participate in software installation and deployment.
- Gather requirements and evaluate user feedback to modify software.
- Collaborate with the systems team, project team, and stakeholders to design software.
- Assists in the creation supporting documentation for software including but not limited
to flowcharts, data file layouts, job procedures, and form requirements.
- Installation and maintenance of third-party software applications as assigned.
- Maintain working knowledge of IT operations and functions.
- Prepare and present pertinent project material.
- Work on special projects as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- At least 6 months of employment with the York County IT department or 6 months of
experience/training in software development.
- Familiar with Microsoft development tools, SQL, code repositories, Java/JavaScript,
HTML/CSS, Python, C#/C/.NET, PHP.
- Familiar with the software development lifecycle (SDLC), Agile, version control
systems, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Familiar with database schema, data constraints, and overall database management.
- Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and staff
from other County departments.
- Able to perform effectively under pressure and in high-stress environments.
- Capable of explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Proven team player with a collaborative mindset.
Job Title: Developer
- Understanding of York County Government’s operational model, processes, and
strategic goals.
- Completion of a Pennsylvania Criminal Background check and fingerprinting, required
for all employees in this role.
- Possession of a valid and current driver’s license.
