Job description

Position Description: The Development Manager serves as the main point of contact for lower-level donor relationships. This role is essential in providing exceptional customer service, building relationships, educating donors about UMOM’s mission and impact, and providing general support to the Philanthropy Department. This position works closely with the entire Development Team., * Acting as the main point of contact for lower-level donor relationships. This includes monetary and in-kind relationships.

  • Responsible for stewardship and prospecting individual, corporate, foundation, and community partnerships as assigned.
  • Maintains strong relationships with corporations, vendors, in-kind donors, and volunteers - with a heavy focus on exemplary customer service and communication.
  • Supports the Development Team during seasonal needs including special events, volunteerism, in-kind drives, thanking donors, giving tours, and attending community and client events.
  • Able to articulate the case for support and give inspiring tours to engage in-kind donors and volunteers to support the mission and vision of UMOM.
  • Promotes a data driven and outcomes-based culture. Supports the tracking and collection of multiple measures of performance to consistently demonstrate effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Ensures all relevant activities are recorded in UMOM’s donor database and associated tracking devices, in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures.
  • Facilitates strong internal relationships with all departments and staff.

Other duties as assigned by Leadership and/or Executives., * This position is typically performed in an interior, environmentally controlled office setting. The duties of the job require extended periods of time being stationary and manipulating a computer (keyboard, monitor, mouse), and other standard office equipment including, but not limited to: printer, fax, calculator, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED, required
  • Bachelor’s degree, in related field, preferred
  • Minimum five years of professional experience, with at least three years of experience in relevant roles (e.g., in-kind coordination/management, fundraising, community engagement, community-based organizations, project coordination, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience building relationships with individuals, organizations, and businesses and an ability to think strategically about in-kind linkages to UMOM.
  • Knowledge of non-profit sector; experience working with underserved or disadvantaged populations is a plus.

Computer skills

  • Proficiency with applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
  • Previous experience with volunteer or donor management software is strongly preferred

Compliance

  • Valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card or the ability to obtain one
  • Ability to clear the Central Registry Screening from the Department of Child SafetyAdult Protective Services.
  • Ability to comply with and pass all required background check and drug screening requirements, including but not limited to pre-employment and random drug screening as required/requested.
  • Valid AZ Driver’s License and a driving record that falls within UMOM’s policy
  • 50/100 level of car insurance coverage., * Adheres to the highest ethical standards; demonstrates empathetic disposition, and perseverance; reflects optimistic and positive attitude, and conveys sensitivity to needs of the donors and beneficiaries of UMOM’s mission.

Work Schedule: The typical schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, normal business hours, with flexibility to occasionally work evenings and weekends to support the needs of the position and the organization.

Our mission is to end family homelessness by restoring hope and rebuilding lives. With an annual operating budget of $23 million dollars, UMOM provides shelter, supportive services, and housing programs to families and individuals experiencing homelessness in Maricopa County. UMOM serves over 15,000 unique individuals across all our services annually, including those families receiving support at the Family Housing Hub, Maricopa County’s family coordinated entry system.
