Job description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Development Manager to lead the development of our Android-based warehouse management applications while overseeing day-to-day IT operations. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong Android development expertise, SQL database experience, and the ability to mentor developers while ensuring the reliability of our technology environment.
The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, manage a small development team, support internal IT operations, and work closely with company leadership to drive product innovation and technology initiatives.
Responsibilities
1) Software Development
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of Android applications.
- Develop new features and enhancements for warehouse management software.
- Write clean, maintainable, and scalable code following modern development practices.
- Perform code reviews and establish development standards.
- Troubleshoot complex software issues and implement long-term solutions.
- Collaborate with product management and customers to define technical requirements.
2) Database Development
- Design and optimize Microsoft SQL Server databases.
- Develop stored procedures, views, functions, and queries.
- Optimize application performance through efficient database design.
- Maintain data integrity and support reporting requirements.
3) Leadership
- Direct and mentor a team of two software developers.
- Assign work, establish priorities, and review completed projects.
- Foster a collaborative and accountable development environment.
- Guide technical architecture and development best practices.
- Assist with recruiting and onboarding future technical staff.
4) IT Operations
- Oversee day-to-day IT operations and internal technology support.
- Manage relationships with third-party technology vendors.
- Coordinate hardware procurement and software licensing.
- Ensure systems remain secure, reliable, and up to date.
- Assist with infrastructure planning and technology improvements.
5) Strategic Responsibilities
- Partner with the President on technology strategy and product roadmap.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements.
- Balance development priorities with business objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement across development and IT operations.
Requirements
Required
- 7-8+ years of professional Android application development experience.
- Strong proficiency in Java and/or Kotlin.
- Extensive experience with Microsoft SQL Server and SQL development.
- Experience designing and maintaining enterprise applications.
- Previous experience leading or mentoring software developers.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
Preferred
- Experience with warehouse management, inventory management, or logistics software.
- Knowledge of REST APIs and web services.
- Experience with source control systems such as Git.
- Familiarity with Microsoft technologies and Windows server environments.
- Experience supporting internal business technology and IT operations.
