Job description

Data security and efficient IT operations are important to us, and as a result we are looking for a sharp candidate with a strong IT troubleshooting and systems administration background to support our growing organization and help strengthen our IT practices. The IT Administrator will support our organization in several ways, including Microsoft 365 and Azure administration, Windows and macOS device management through Intune, ticketing system support, and hardware logistics. Our ideal candidate will be a critical thinker who consistently seeks to improve processes and their own knowledge, strives for high-quality work, genuinely wants to help others, and is looking for a long-term place to grow their career. We’re looking for individuals to join the team who very much want to know why something happened in addition to just that it happened. We have a lot of ideas but are hopeful your perspective will push us forward together to deeper understanding.

Please note: This is an onsite role working out of our Bethesda and Frederick, MD offices. Travel between both offices during the same workday is not required.

Here’s What You’ll Do Day-to-Day:

  • Take ownership of day-to-day IT operations, systems administration, and technical projects for the Bethesda and Frederick offices
  • Serve as a point of contact for on-site and remote technical issues, providing troubleshooting and support through our ticketing system, and escalating complex issues as needed
  • Manage device provisioning, deployment, and compliance for macOS and Windows using Intune and Apple Business Manager
  • Administer Microsoft 365, Azure, and Exchange, including user identity, access provisioning, licensing, and basic security configuration
  • Support onboarding and offboarding workflows, including account creation, access provisioning, and device setup
  • Maintain and improve hardware inventory, procurement processes, and device lifecycle management
  • Create, update, and maintain IT documentation, procedures, and technical standards
  • Research new tools, technologies, and best practices, and propose improvements to enhance security, reliability, and efficiency
  • Support office infrastructure such as networking, cabling, Wi-Fi troubleshooting, and AV systems
  • Assist with configuration and maintenance of switches, firewalls, and other network appliances as needed
  • Collaborate with Security, Engineering, HR, and other teams on cross-functional initiatives

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in IT administration, systems support, or a similar technical role
  • Experience working in an ITSM tool or ticketing system
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 and Azure AD administration, including identity and access management
  • Experience managing devices using Intune, Apple Business Manager, or similar MDM platforms (macOS and Windows)
  • Experience troubleshooting macOS and Windows hardware, conferencing tools, and peripherals
  • Strong customer service and communication skills, including the ability to confidently support executives
  • Working understanding of RBAC, IAM, MFA, and modern identity and access security principles
  • Familiarity with common networking protocols such as HTTPS, SMTP, SFTP, and RDP
  • Fundamental understanding of IT security principles, risk vectors, and common vulnerabilities
  • Ability to prioritize and work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team
  • Genuine eagerness to learn new technologies and adapt processes accordingly
