Job description

Nexus Health Systems is seeking an experienced Corporate Director of Information Technology to provide strategic and operational leadership for the technology infrastructure supporting our growing healthcare system.

The Corporate Director of IT is responsible for the planning, governance, implementation, security, reliability, and ongoing performance of enterprise technology across the organization. This leader will oversee IT infrastructure, networks, telecommunications, systems, end-user support, disaster recovery, technology projects, and vendor relationships while ensuring technology solutions support the clinical, operational, and financial needs of the organization.

This is a hands-on leadership position requiring both strong enterprise IT strategy and current technical expertise. The Director will lead and develop the IT team while remaining capable of assisting with complex Tier 3 escalations, infrastructure challenges, system implementations, new facility openings, and other critical technology needs., * Provide leadership and oversight of enterprise IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, telecommunications, hardware, software, and end-user technology.

  • Maintain the stability, availability, security, redundancy, and performance of enterprise technology systems.
  • Develop, maintain, test, and continuously improve disaster recovery and business continuity processes, including data restoration and recovery testing.
  • Lead IT operations with a strong focus on customer service, responsiveness, accountability, and minimizing disruption to patient care.
  • Manage and develop the IT team, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, performance management, professional development, and accountability.
  • Establish and monitor project milestones, service-level expectations, resource allocation, and technology priorities across the organization.
  • Develop and manage the IT operating and capital budgets, monitor expenses, and negotiate vendor and technology contracts to maximize value.
  • Lead the evaluation, selection, implementation, integration, and optimization of enterprise technology solutions.
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of healthcare technology, including Electronic Health Records (EHR), Practice Management systems, Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), and Health Information Systems.
  • Provide advanced technical leadership and assist with Tier 3 troubleshooting and critical technical issues when needed.
  • Support and manage hybrid technology environments, including Microsoft, Linux, and iOS platforms.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies based on functionality, scalability, cost, cybersecurity risk, operational impact, and potential impact to patient care.
  • Ensure technology operations and systems comply with applicable healthcare requirements, including HIPAA and the protection of PHI.
  • Lead technology initiatives using established project management and System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies.
  • Provide executive leadership with clear updates regarding major IT projects, technology performance, risks, benefits, challenges, and strategic initiatives.
  • Develop and deploy reporting tools, operational dashboards, key performance indicators, and performance reporting solutions.
  • Identify and execute technology initiatives that improve operational efficiency, reduce expenses, enhance clinical operations, or support revenue growth.
  • Conduct technology site surveys and lead IT planning and deployment for new facilities, expansions, and other organizational growth initiatives.
  • Oversee the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, and support of enterprise hardware and software.
  • Oversee end-user services, including help desk operations, technical support, escalation management, and service delivery.
  • Develop long-term technology strategies that provide scalable, reliable, secure, and cost-effective information processing and communication capabilities.
  • Support system interoperability, data conversion, and migration initiatives utilizing HL7 interfaces, database migrations, and other healthcare integration standards.
  • Partner with clinical, operational, financial, and executive leadership to ensure technology solutions align with organizational objectives.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

The ideal candidate is an experienced IT leader who understands that technology in a healthcare environment must be reliable, secure, responsive, and closely aligned with patient care and operations., * Progressive IT leadership experience with responsibility for enterprise infrastructure, systems, networking, and technical support.

  • Strong preference for leadership experience within a hospital, health system, behavioral health, post-acute, or other complex healthcare organization.
  • Demonstrated experience leading IT teams and building a culture of accountability, collaboration, and exceptional customer service.
  • Strong technical knowledge of enterprise networks, servers, systems, devices, telecommunications, and hybrid technology environments.
  • Experience with healthcare information systems, EHR platforms, Practice Management systems, EDI, and healthcare interoperability.
  • Working knowledge of HL7 interfaces, database migration, system integrations, and healthcare data exchange.
  • Demonstrated experience with disaster recovery, business continuity, infrastructure redundancy, and technology risk management.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, PHI security, cybersecurity practices, and healthcare technology compliance requirements.
  • Experience managing technology budgets, contracts, vendors, and major capital or implementation projects.
  • Strong project management skills with experience managing multiple enterprise initiatives simultaneously.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts, risks, and recommendations effectively to executive and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability and willingness to remain technically engaged and support complex escalations when necessary.
  • Experience supporting organizational growth, including technology planning for new locations or facility openings, strongly preferred.

Leadership Profile

We are looking for a leader who can operate comfortably at both the executive and technical levels. This individual should be equally capable of presenting an enterprise technology strategy to senior leadership, developing and holding an IT team accountable, managing a major implementation, working through an infrastructure issue, and partnering with clinical leaders to ensure technology supports safe and effective patient care.
