Job description
Insight Global is searching for an Engineer I for a medical device client located in Arbor Lakes, Maple Grove, MN. This Engineer I will support the client’s interventional cardiology systems team on new product development efforts tied to next-generation imaging catheter programs, as well as some sustaining to support a quality initiative. This role will function within a design quality and systems test environment, directly supporting medical device product development from concept through commercialization.
Day to day, this person will work closely with cross-functional partners across R&D, Design Assurance, Project Management, Regulatory, and test development teams. Responsibilities will include developing test methods and test equipment, supporting test method validation, planning and executing design verification testing, analyzing test data, writing technical documentation such as protocols and reports, and supporting prototype and commercial product testing in a lab environment to confirm products meet design standards. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can learn quickly, apply existing technical design skills, work independently, communicate clearly, and collaborate across a team that includes engineers and technicians.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. 0-2 years of engineering, laboratory, internship, co-op, or research experience Hands-on approach to product development, laboratory testing, design work, or technical problem solving Ability to apply mechanical, electrical, biomedical, or related engineering fundamentals to test development, product performance testing, or design verification activities. Ability to work independently, take ownership of assigned work, learn quickly, and contribute within a cross-functional team environment. Strong technical, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills, including the ability to document testing through protocols, reports, procedures, and technical conclusions
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Medical device, biomedical, product development, or research experience Experience supporting design verification testing or test method validation Experience with lab work, instrumentation, test fixtures, experimental setups, data acquisition equipment, or simulated clinical environments Experience with CAD or design engineering work, including integrating mechanical and electrical design concepts Experience using SolidWorks or equivalent 3D modeling software Exposure to LabVIEW, MATLAB, Python, or other programming languages Minitab or statistical analysis experience Understanding of ISO 13485, ISO 14971, Quality System Regulations, Design Controls, or Risk Analysis Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology as it relates to medical device usage
