Job description

Directs and oversee the current inventory of projects and programs for the division, with routine monitoring, measurement, and reporting of performance to budget, schedule, and business objectives and the management communications. Maintains a strong level of control over portfolio activity, ensuring that the portfolio information is delivered on time with the right level of quality, while driving a full understanding over complete program management and impact to the business. Effectively balances the unique needs of supported functions with the corporate objective to standardize technologies and processes.

Job Responsibility

  • Leads an IT&S Project Management group by communicating with and developing staff members, and building consensus for programs and goals that support a business, function or geographic area.
  • Leads a functional unit in multiple sites by developing, communicating, and building consensus for goals/programs that support business or region.
  • Develops and articulates a short-term strategic vision for areas of responsibility.
  • Prepares and manages budget for the department.
  • Directs multiple Program Managers in planning and coordinating staff and activities of an assigned area and ensures project milestones and budgetary constraints are maintained; collaborates with Program and Project Managers to define time-frames, funding, procedures, deliverables and staffing levels.
  • Directs and manages cross-functional team engagement and alignment as it pertains to requirements, scope and project delivery.
  • Ensures Program Managers work with IT teams, vendors and customers to develop project proposals outlining deliverables, requirements, risks, assumptions, key stakeholders, roles and responsibilities and budgets.
  • Collaborates with the leadership to build and manage program management function in support of projects; assists in defining and developing departmental wide program management practices, governance standards, processes and metrics.
  • Reviews high level deliverables across assigned Service Line projects and reports to the leadership on projects’ status; reviews quality assurance procedures in accordance with established methodology and ensure successful project execution by Program and Project managers.
  • Escalates risk issues to the leadership when project scope requires intervention; assists in evaluation, re-prioritization and re-design of project plans and objectives as necessary.
  • Contributes to Portfolio Management and Planning for assigned areas; collaborates with administrative leaders to create, enhance and deliver improved project management processes and practice.
  • Ensures Program Managers train assigned staff in appropriate processes and documentation standards; manages resources including operating budget, supplies, equipment, space, staff, and information.
  • Uses knowledge and skills to contribute to the development of functional objectives and principles to achieve goals in innovative ways. Problems addressed are of diverse scope and complexity ranging from moderate to substantial.
  • Performs performance reviews and provides feedback directly to Program Managers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • 8-12 years of relevant experience and 7+ years of leadership / management experience, required. PMP, PgMP or PfMP Certification, preferred.

HIGHLY PREFERRED

Masters degree strongly preferred

Experience with Epic strongly preferred

Experience with ambulatory operations strongly preferred

Experience with data management strongly preferred
