Job description

This position serves as a Supervisory IT Cybersecurity Specialist (INFOSEC), located in the Department of Justice, Chief Information Officer, Cybersecurity Services Staff, Administration, Shared Services and Internal Controls Directorate in Washington, DC. The incumbent is responsible for planning and supporting major specialized and exceptionally technical programs of marked difficulty, responsibility, and national significance., The duties and responsibilities for a Supervisory IT Cybersecurity Specialist (INFOSEC), GS-2210-15 generally include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provides technical advice and recommendations to leadership and other senior decision authorities on complex cybersecurity matters.

  • Establishes cybersecurity performance objectives and measures and monitor program outcomes against established goals.

  • Leads long-range cybersecurity strategic planning activities aligned with mission requirements and enterprise IT priorities.

  • Analyzes current and emerging cybersecurity requirements, technical doctrines, mandates, and regulatory frameworks.

  • Coordinates cybersecurity planning activities with internal organizations, agencies, interagency partners, and other stakeholders.

  • Determines program priorities, allocates resources, resolves budget, procurement, and staffing challenges., Be rated well-qualified for the position based on the competencies listed above; and submit the appropriate documentation to support your CTAP or ICTAP eligibility. Well-qualified is defined as having knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or competencies clearly exceeding the minimum qualification requirements for the vacancy.

Probationary Period: As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you may be required to serve a 1-year probationary period during which we will evaluate your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest. In determining if your employment advances the public interest, we may consider: 1) your performance and conduct; 2) the needs and interests of the agency; 3) whether your continued employment would advance organizational goals of the agency or the Government; and 4) whether your continued employment would advance the efficiency of the Federal service.

CTAP/ICTAP eligibility documentation - If you are a displaced Federal employee claiming eligibility under CTAP or ICTAP, you must submit:

Requirements

  • You must be a United States Citizen or National.
  • You must successfully pass a security/background investigation and a drug screening.
  • Selective Service registration is required, see the “Additional Information” section for full details.
  • Financial Disclosure: If selected, you may be required to disclose financial information in accordance with DOJ and Federal ethics guidelines.
  • You may be required to complete a one-year probationary period. See “Additional Information” section for specific details.
  • This position requires the candidate to be able to hold a security clearance at the Top Secret / SCI security level.
  • This position requires the incumbent must possess and be able to maintain industry-recognized certifications in information security / cybersecurity (See Announcement Questionnaire for detailed description)
  • This position requires temporary duty (TDY) business travel approximately 25% of the time.
  • This position is designated as Mission Critical/Mission Essential (See Announcement Questionnaire for detailed description), Specialized Experience: To qualify for the GS-15 grade level, you must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable non-Federal experience. Specialized experience is defined as experience performing the following duties:
  • Manages enterprise cybersecurity programs. AND

  • Develops cybersecurity strategies to support information technology operations. AND

  • Oversees cybersecurity budget and procurement management activities and funding associated with cybersecurity programs and services., Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For the GS-15 level, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone.
