Application Engineer

The Application Engineer is responsible for providing technical support to the sales organization, including preparing quotations., Develop and maintain a general understanding of all Voith Fiber Systems products and process technology, working with existing Application Engineers. Determine customer needs, problems and requirements and deliver a solution (system or single machine) to fulfill/solve it. Define and size the required machines and systems according to the Voith Engineering Directives. Develop accurate, competitive and appropriate quotations in a timely manner and develop accurate and detailed cost estimates. Maintain a well-organized quotation file with accurate and current Sizing Sheets, Balances, Correspondences, Equipment Specifications. Assist Sales Team to help determine customer needs and promote Voith products and technology through email, phone calls, meetings, or site visits. Support (participate) in the start-up and optimization of systems sold as required to maintain a thorough understanding of the process. If required, present at customer site or conferences. Work as a team with cross-departmental colleagues.

Enrolled in a qualified educational program for a BS degree in Pulp & Paper Science or Chemical Engineering. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to talk technically with sales and engineering colleagues (local, national, international). Excellent organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, ability to learn other programs. Discretion in dealing with confidential data. Paper mill experience will be advantageous but not necessary. Self starter requiring little guidance from superiors.
