Job description

We’re looking for a Senior Engineering Manager, Data Platform to join Procore’s Data Platform team. In this role, you’ll lead the team responsible for the streaming and lakehouse foundations that power data across Procore. Your primary goal is to build and scale a reliable, secure, and performant data platform that enables teams across the company to access and act on trusted data.

As a Senior Manager, Data Platform, you’ll partner with data engineering, analytics, platform, and security teams to design, operate, and continuously improve our streaming (Kafka/MSK) and lakehouse (Databricks) systems. Use your technical depth in distributed data systems, your people-leadership skills, and your ability to translate business needs into platform priorities to deliver a data foundation that is scalable, cost-efficient, and trusted company-wide. If you’re energized by building foundational infrastructure that unlocks data-driven decisions at scale-join us.

This position reports to the Director of Data Engineering and will be 2 days per week hybrid role in our Austin office. We’re looking for someone to join us immediately.

This position requires US citizenship to work on FedRAMP-compliant projects. Candidates must be eligible to work on federal government projects requiring FedRAMP authorization.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead and grow a team of data engineers responsible for streaming infrastructure (Kafka/MSK), and the Databricks lakehouse.
  • Define and drive the technical strategy and roadmap for the data platform in alignment with company data and analytics goals.
  • Ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of streaming pipelines and lakehouse infrastructure that support critical business and product functions.
  • Partner with security and compliance teams to maintain data protection, access controls, and regulatory compliance across the platform.
  • Collaborate with engineering, analytics, and product stakeholders to understand data needs and prioritize platform investments accordingly.
  • Manage platform costs and drive efficiency initiatives across streaming and lakehouse infrastructure.
  • Mentor and develop engineers on the team, building a strong culture of technical excellence and ownership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 12+ years of experience in data engineering or platform engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in people management, leading and developing engineering teams.
  • Hands-on experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka and AWS MSK, and lakehouse platforms such as Databricks.
  • Demonstrated experience operating mission-critical data infrastructure in production, including ownership of availability, performance, and on-call practices.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strategic thinker who balances long-term platform vision with near-term delivery needs.

Benefits & conditions

198,240.00 - 272,580.00 USD Annual

This role may also be eligible for Equity Compensation and/or Bonus Incentive Compensation. Procore is committed to offering competitive, fair, and commensurate compensation. Actual compensation will be based on a candidate’s job-related skills, experience, education or training, and location.

This position requires access to technology, software, and data that is controlled or restricted under U.S. law, regulation, executive order, or government contract. For Los Angeles County (unincorporated) Candidates:

Procore will consider for employment all qualified applicants, including those with arrest or conviction records, in accordance with the requirements of applicable federal, state, and local laws, including the City of Los Angeles’ Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring Ordinance, the Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers, and the California Fair Chance Act.
