Job description

Software Engineer serves as the primary technical lead for BuilderLinq, responsible for its architecture, development, and ongoing evolution. The individual in this role will work directly with leadership and business teams, influencing both the platform and the processes the role supports. Beyond BuilderLinq, the role covers designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software that supports business operations and strategic initiatives. The individual in this role will also collaborate with stakeholders across departments to identify opportunities for automation, improve workflows, build scalable solutions, and make data more accessible-all while keeping software reliable, secure, and performant. Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Own the platform - architecture, technical decisions, and day-to-day development of BuilderLinq.
  • Build - design and build features across a modern .NET 8 and React/TypeScript stack running on Azure.
  • Strengthen the foundation - harden and consolidate authentication and access control (Microsoft Entra ID, JWT), one of the platform’s most important surfaces.
  • odernize - carry our older application into the modern platform as we retire legacy components this year.
  • Learn fast and document - get deep into an existing, evolving codebase, document how it works, and make it more maintainable.
  • Partner - coordinate with external development partners as needed to keep delivery moving.

Software Development

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy software applications to meet business needs.
  • Write clean, efficient, maintainable code using approved languages and frameworks.
  • Build integrations between internal systems, databases, and third-party applications.
  • Maintain and improve existing applications and tools.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software issues promptly.

Business Process Improvement

  • Partner with department leaders to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for automation.
  • Analyze business processes and recommend technology solutions that improve productivity and accuracy.
  • Design and implement tools, dashboards, and workflows that support operational goals.

Data Management and Reporting

  • Develop and maintain databases, data pipelines, and report solutions.
  • Create dashboards and business intelligence tools that provide actionable insights.
  • Ensure the accuracy, security, and integrity of data across systems.

Collaboration and Project Management

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and define project objectives.
  • Participate in project planning, testing, deployment, and post-implementation support.
  • Document technical specifications, processes, and system configurations.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to end users when needed.

Innovation and Technology

  • Research emerging technologies and recommend solutions that support company objectives.
  • Assist in evaluating software platforms, vendors, and technology investments.
  • Promote continuous improvement through technology-driven initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in software engineering and coding.
  • Senior full-stack experience with modern .NET (C#, .NET 8 / ASP.NET Core Web API) and React with TypeScript.
  • Strong command of Azure and Azure DevOps - CI/CD pipelines, deployment, and cloud-hosted applications.
  • Real depth in authentication and authorization: Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD, JWT, and role-based access control.
  • Solid SQL skills across Azure SQL (our primary database) and on-premises SQL Server - stored procedures, query design, and performance.
  • A track record of picking up unfamiliar, under-documented systems, figuring out how they work, and improving them - not just working in code you wrote yourself.
  • The judgment and communication skills to operate as the sole engineer at first: setting priorities, explaining trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders, and working independently.
  • Experience with database design and management.
  • Experience developing APIs, integrations, and web-based applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and project management abilities.

Physical Requirements*

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing and operating office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel occasionally for meetings, training, or business needs.
  • Ability to independently move throughout the office and work environment

  • The company is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to making reasonable accommodations as required by applicable law.
