IT Software Engineer 5- Lead Java Software Engineer

Client is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to provide technical leadership in designing, developing, testing, and deploying enterprise-scale digital platforms hosted on AWS. The role will focus on backend RESTful APIs and microservices while driving architecture, engineering best practices, and end-to-end software delivery., *Lead the design and development of RESTful APIs and microservices using Java 21+, Spring Boot, Apigee, and AWS.

*Architect API-first solutions, including service contracts, payload schemas, and OpenAPI/Swagger specifications.

*Translate business requirements into technical designs, user stories, and development tasks.

*Design secure service-to-service integrations using OAuth 2.0, JWT, and authorization models.

*Lead architecture decisions, technical design reviews, and code reviews.

*Collaborate with Product Owners, UI teams, architects, and partner development teams.

*Establish best practices for scalability, reliability, observability, security, and maintainability.

*Drive automated testing, performance testing, load testing, and production readiness.

*Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex production issues.

*Own the complete software lifecycle from design and development through deployment, monitoring, support, and continuous improvement.

*Create technical documentation, operational runbooks, and engineering standards.

*Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of software development experience.

*Strong experience with software development, product design, and architecture.

*Strong decision-making and critical-thinking skills.

*Extensive experience with Java 17+ and Spring Boot REST API development.

*Experience with API management/gateway platforms, preferably Apigee.

*Experience deploying and maintaining applications in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
